I was thinking this also,so it the HIV virus cant survie outside a human body?So what if its a dirty needle?Something goes for that also right?

This might be stemming from an urban legend that goes:

A guy goes into a darkened movie theater and finds a seat and sits down, only to feel a little pinprick. He looks down and theres a thumbtack on his seat and a little note that says "Welcome to the world of AIDS" , or something equivalent.

I've heard other urban legends about change trays on payphones and drink machines having thumbtacks or pins in it, and people get pricked when they poke their fingers in and there's a little note with the same message about AIDS.

Thing is I don't think you can get aids from something like that, because I think the virus cannot survive outside a host, so being out in the air it will die. But i'm not 100% sure.

Mexico ranks 13th globally and third in the Americas in the total number of HIV cases reported. However, when rated on the accumulated number of cases, Mexico ranks 69th globally, 29th in Latin America and the Caribbean, and in 11th place in the Americas, which reflects a comparatively low incidence rate.

I was trying to show you that Mexico has a fairly low rate of AIDS compared to the rest of the world. Your post made it sound like you think AIDS is teeming in Mexico, when it is not even close...

LOL ok thanx

I mean an earing doesnt actually touch blood when a person wears it,Its mostly inserted into Cartlege. So i guess thats a good thing.

EDit: oooh ok i read that "the Facts" wrong,i see what your saying

Posted by Resnick on Sep-27-2004 02:01:

if the person has aids, and with the earring she cut herself somehow, and got blood on it, then within 5 min dropped it on floor and u stepped on it and cut yourself then theres a CHANCE that u can get it...but anything less than that is really unlikely

Posted by TrAnCe CoNtRoL on Sep-27-2004 02:04:

The AIDS virus can survive outside the body alive and infective in body fluids for 7 days if dry and for 14 days if wet. HIV can survive for several days in the small amount of blood that remains in a needle after use, so used needles are very risky for HIV transmission

Does this person actually *have* AIDS/HIV or are you just being a hypochondriac? Because if this person doesn't have AIDS, you don't have much to worry about
