driving across nevada

do you think it would be advisable to drive across nevada in the winter from the east bay to park city utah? mapquest says i can do it in 11 hours but i am concerned whether this might end up being like 20 hours if it snows, as i suppose it is prone to do in winter...

has anyone done this? i usually fly and i feel like there are so many unknowns with driving.

right, so driving across the mountains would involve crossing the sierras and those mountains by park city. so is that risky is what i am asking?

well I doubt I can really give you any good advise. I always feel like I cna drive in the snow no matter what since I grew up in michigan and have driven through many a blizzard.

but if there is snow on the ground there, it will not be good....

why not just fly?

well we have chains but i am more concerned on timing and stuff.

i would normally fly but in this case i am being cheap, plus if it really takes only 11 hours, that isnt bad.

I've done it before. Just make sure you can get through the Sierras, after that its a piece of cake. I had to spend the night in Truckee once I believe, because the conditions were too harsh and I didn't want to buy chains etc. Once you're in Nevada its dead easy.
