keyboard advice please
hey guys...i want to buy a piano keyboard that will serve me for two purposes....
1)i want a keyboard that has a wide variety of instruments, preset sounds/beats/rhythms (examples: dance, trance, salsa, rock, hip hop, etc..) so that I can use the keyboard as live entertainment by playing lets say a rock song for an audience, then switching to salsa, etc live. Basically, i want pretty much one of those types of keyboards u see at lets say RadioShack, only i DONT want casio (bad experience with it in past) and i actually want a professional one (not those 300 dollar ones). Something that has a bunch of the flutes, percussions, leads, strings, pianos, guitar sounds, etc...and also, i want it to have a lot of awesome trance sounds as well, since.....
2)...the second use for the keyboard will be for producing trance music. itll be awesome if it is updatable as well and supports midi....and my budget is around $1,000,000.
Please suggest me particular models that will serve me fine for both these purposes, such as from Roland, Alesis, Korg, etc... thanks in advance
btw...i know the roland jp-8000 for sure would keep me satisfied on the second purpose (producing trance), but would it also server purpose number 1 (live entertainment, different types of rhythms)?
also, when i said i want to produce trance with it, i meant quality trance, with at least roland jp-8000 or nord lead equivalent or similar sounds, preferrably with those osc effects and filter cuts
lol..also i meant 1,000 dollars...haha not 1 million
I suggest then that you don't purchase an actual synthesizer, but a midi controller. The midi controller will basically act as a keyboard to whatever instrument you assign it to. This means that you can use it on software like cubase with VST's. You can also buy rackmount synths, which are just the actual hardware synths themselves (like the jp-8080) without it's own attached keyboard. It will make the exact same sound, but it will cost less and you just have to use your own midi controller.
M-Audio Radium's are supposed to be good, so are Evolutions. Make sure to get a full 61 key controller if you want to last.
ya i see what u mean, but the thing is, i need to be able to perform live as well....so for this purpose, the jp-8080 wont help me much....basically, what good keyboards are there that i can buy with different preset rhythms of different genres, ESPECIALLY including typical high quality trance instruments/rhtyms etc, also one that i can download many patches for it online
also...how bout a korg triton (or any of the triton models)? i know those are loaded with bunch of instruments and rhythms, but are they awesome for trance production? any access virus or nord lead or jp-8000 type sounds on it?
You need to perform live? It's amazing what a MIDI controller and a laptop computer can do.
yeh man, midi controller and a laptop all the way!!!
see the keyboard i drool over which you would to, because it would serve all your purposes ie. live, quality sounds, and all the synth stuff is the
roland fantom-x...i would kill to own it, i've researched it and played it in the store, and without a doubt i feel its the best keyboard on the market right now, you have to try it, it'll blow you away...i think for the 5 octave model is $2000US...so double your budget...but if you can save up longer, i think its amazing
thanks guys...the laptop advice seems awesome, but i think im gonna stick with the traditional type keyboard...
i checked out this fantom online, looks awesome....for now i think i'll probably get that...but i have one more question ...is it awesome with trance too, with sounds at least similar to that of the JP or nord lead? also, does it have any sort of effects which are typicaly used for trance music production? and patch updateable?lol..sorry for askin noobish questions, but i want to actally ask someone and not just go with what it says on websites
thanks
dude, it has everything and anything for making trance music, and all the fx..etc. or making almost any type of music for that matter...seriously, if you have the $...you won't regret this keyboard
If you also need to perform live just get a midicontroller. A midi controller can be assigned to ANYTHING really. It's just a row of keys.
alrighty then fantom x it is :-) now just one more question...the x6, x7, and x8...are those all the same exact thing except each one has an extra octave?
and i can in realtime mix two different genres together with a touch of a button, correct? such as goin from salsa to playing a dance beat
shit 1000..lucky bastard
I only got a DGX-200 and it does the job
(use it for my band). But If i had that kind of money i would go with a nord or a jp8000.
yeah i luv the jp8000...but the thing is i want something that produces not only trance, but also lets u play different genres like rock, salsa, waltz, hip hop...hopefully the fantom x6 is good enough for all those?
