Exclamation Sick of progressive trance!!

Please note my personal views here do not in anyway represent the musical direction of A Night Of Trance or the other JAFP run events.

Well I personally like uplifting trance and faster right the way through to happy hardcore!!!! I personally find prog trance a bit much to hear in a club environment. Nice for a couple of tunes but I need something that will get me jumping!

Posted by tathi on Sep-29-2004 09:20:

although hearing prog in a club isn't for me

northern exposure <-
GU13 <-
oslo nights <-

Wade, i'll probably listen to that cd you gave me at ANOT tomorrow at work

Posted by Trance Nutter on Sep-29-2004 09:27:

Prog just doesn't have the energy for me.

There are some ripper songs out there, but in general not enough

Posted by JulesPLees on Sep-29-2004 09:34:

I havent heard any progressive trance in clubs (in oz, regularly) for about 4 years now, so nah not sick of it..more like wating for (and tryna create) the exPLosion.

prog trance is a must at the beginning of the nite, builds it up perfectly!!

Posted by JulesPLees on Sep-29-2004 09:52:

Posted by tachyon on Sep-29-2004 09:58:

Posted by JulesPLees on Sep-29-2004 10:01:

At the end of the night, imo. For me it's better to listen to progressive if you only have listened to some uplifting earlier in the evening. And with that, had a couple of beers before too!

Posted by trance in da pa on Sep-29-2004 11:17:

w00t!! go happy hard!! its back i tell yah!! but only at raves.. no clubs play happy hard really.. it was born and bred for raves IMO but im still into uplifting.. never got into progressive.. not fast enuff for me..

WTF? Whats these teeny boppers talkin about? Techazzz ppl has no right to talk about prog, full stop. Prog is foreva uplifting is seasonal!!!!

Posted by websley on Sep-29-2004 12:27:

^^ Forget it, it all began with uplifting. Trance = uplifting! Progressive is the OTHER side of Trance. Some would prefer to call it the BORING side, (of which I don't agree) but uplifting is forever!

meh to you all! I seriously am soooo buggered as I think I now truly suffer from insomnia (thats right I dont sleep more than 3 hours a night) but seriously! the CHEESE, thats right CHEESE, not trance that is played at ANOT is getting beyond a joke. Flame me for liking prog, at least having some variation in the music that I listen to, but there is an extreme lack of THOUGHT, thats right people, its only the billionth time ive put my hands in the freaking air to Solar stone - Seven cities and Armin - Communication or that ridiculous fly away vocal track! lets get innovative people, wack on some Matthew Dekay, where I assure you the listener will not be hearing Fly away, Communication or any other block of cheese and enlighten yourselves.

Sarah Mclachlan - World On Fire (Junkie XL Mix)

You're all a bunch of fuckheads who have no idea what you're talking about.

Much Love,

I second that!

Posted by websley on Sep-29-2004 19:17:

It's always been progressive on the TA forums! From the moment you're not a newbie anymore, you're supposed to love progressive! And it's so fucked up with the idea of making new kinds of melodies and other downtempo bullshit that it has lost its pure Trance feeling! In these bizarre days, people are more and more pulled back to the good old uplifting! And wtf is wrong with proper cheese? - If you compare ONLY the musical value (varieties!!) of let's say: "Milk Inc. - The Sun Always Shines On TV" with progressive bullcrack like: "Tilt - The World Dosen't Know (Ozgur Can Remix)", you come to the conclusion that the first one is actually a SONG!

Do whatever you want, you costum-name freakz! You're only fooling yourselves!

quote:
S_madis' sig:
it's called PROGRESSING
Nathan fake - The sky was pink (James holden mix)
Viton and stel - Wooden swordz (Jose zamora and dousk jdk mix)
Hiratzka and kazell - In your eyes (B side mix)
Astrid Suryanto - Holy rainwater (Sultan mix)
Mavi - A tribute to m&m's (Original mix)

For christ sake, they're all f*cking remixes! No wonder why there's such a WALL between progressive and Trance. There's always a bunch of fuckheadz who need to f*ck things up with a remix.
Next time you call things 'progressive', be sure you come with the actual progressive stuff and not only remixes! And if you say that the original versions are actually progressive (which I think you would), I say that those tracks are thus not good enough on it's own. Which concludes to the fact that progressive tracks are often not good on their own!

Now waiting for the flaming to come up...

Kick me

I also like the way Europeans speak English (and really, the fact that most of them can can speak two languages fluently is pretty impressive, they kick our ass in the language stakes).

What the fuck are you talking about. Going by that your saying every single track that has had a remix is crap in its original form therefore pretty much every single track ever made was shit to start with before a remix??? So trance tracks like Universal nation, 1998, communication, 7 cities etc all suck in there original form then???

i love trance and progressive just as much but i think by playing progressive (or harder style) is the only way you can be original in the sound your putting out and not sound like every other trance dj out there. Look at the tracklists for most trance dj sets on here. Same tracks over and over again, but progressive djs each have a different sound and different tracks all the time making each set unique somewhat.

Each to there own. Music is like politics and religion. You either like it or not. im not a fan anymore of ASOT or ANOT. Too much cheese and not enough originality. there is only so much anthem trance one can take.
