Logic 7

Holy Sh!t LOGIC 7 is out !
http://www.apple.com/logic/

Posted by SgtFoo on Sep-29-2004 15:17:

wow... I don't know about how logic 6 was distributed, but it says that logic 7 needs a DVD drive to install... finally they're getting smart and taking advantage of 4+ GB of data on one disc!

I would grab logic 7 if I had a G5... but I don't so... meh.
It's a very impressive package.

wow, this new sculpture-synth sounds awesome! very crisp, clean and warm..

Very Interested!

Guess its time for me to switch to Logic as well. LOL... Must its alittle complicated for me on LOGIC.

For a grand, it better make me more creative. Or at least better looking. That's the wonderful thing about Apple software. Those rock bottom prices. Don't get me wrong, Apple's done some great things, but I just can't agree with some of their pricing ideas.

Digidesign 002 costs over 2k, granted Logic doesnt need hardware, thats a plus in my book. I will use my Mbox for input if i need it using the new Coreaudio.

Pissed off at Apple and Emagic for dropping this on us so suddenly.

Happened before Logic Pro 6.4 was released too. People who paid for various plug-ins get screwed. I could have kept my Logic Platinum until now and paid $300, but instead i've paid almost $700 in plug-ins and upgrades like a sucker. The $200 upgrade to Logic Pro was well worth it, but that came just a couple weeks after I'd paid $250 for the EXS24 sampler (which was included in the $200 upgrade).

Just a week ago i paid $250 for Intonator HS for powercore, and sure the vocal corrector included in Logic 7 is native and will eat up CPU power, but I would not have bought Intonator if I knew this was coming in Logic 7 so soon!

Screw Apple. I hate these sudden releases. I hate how loyal customers are treated like crap.

the price is nice too

Posted by nrjizer on Oct-03-2004 00:23:

obviously a noob question, but is there going to be a pc version of this package anywhere? I've got some cash to burn...

Posted by Pimp_fu on Oct-03-2004 01:23:

I don't think so, if I'm not mistaken, apple bought E-Magic within the last year. Ostensibly to compete with the developers of the leading PC sequencing programs.

Probably won't matter soon, that there isn't a PC version:
QuickTransit

This software will let you run any binary on any OS. Pretty sweet

"In demonstrations to press and analysts, the company has shown a graphically demanding game -- a Linux version of Quake III -- running on an Apple PowerBook."

"One of the key breakthroughs is performance," Wiederhold said. "You can't tell the difference between a translated application and a native application."

sounds very interesting.. when should be the first public release?

Posted by Dane on Oct-05-2004 12:49:

I don't know, but it doesn't sound like this is just some marketing thing that slowly fades away and is forgotten.

They have a lot of sponsors and a lot of money invested in it.
And they have already shown that it works

The program should just run "invisibly" in the tray or something and when you click to launch ie. Logic 7 on your PC it kicks in and does everything. 80-100% performance compared to running natively.

You don't have to wait. AUs not passing the validation will work,
however you will get a warning at startup.
