DJ Tiesto - Just Be (Remixes)

Wasn't it supposed to be released Sept. 27th or something? Is it out anywhere?

keith,

I swear I saw it at chemical. Check the forthcoming section.

didnt like any of the remixes.

This is sadly one of Tiesto's weakest vocal tracks ever. It's not bad by any measure, but considering the vocalist and producer it should have been much more.

I agree Cobalt.

I've always like this song. I really like the vocals and the lyrics. While they are catchy and smooth the message is a GREAT one, and one of the more inspiring that I have heard within EDM. A lot of songs in EDM don't have a message thats sent out to people. This song, cobalt said, is not one of Tiesto's BEST but it's definetly a good song comparative to all other vocal songs out there.

(Original) 7/10
(Antillas Club Mix) 8/10
(Wally Lopez La Factoria Mix) 4/10

Antillas Remix is great however, IMO it's much better then the original. The vocals just seem to fit better with the difference in melody and basslines!

The original starts off real well, .. the vocals come and it gets better but then suddenly, ... you think that a real good melody is coming and then this lame melody that actually follows the bassline appears, ... and goes on for another 5 minutes, ... a big shame!

Didn't hear Wally Lopez Remix yet, ... I like his remixes of David Guetta and stuff, ... so I'm really excited wtf he did with just Be haha!

ps. Who is Antillas? I've heard more remixes, but I don't know who are they?

These remixes aren't very good IMO...Personally I like the Original Album Version the most, but the 540 Remix sounds bit interesting among the other ones...

It's all about the Antillas Remix.I wasn't a big fun of Just Be but with this mix.........wow,it's really taking it to another level. It starts with these beautiful strings and then as the vocals come in you can really see that they fit better in this remix. As for the melody although it's simple (almost 3-5 notes) it's fantastically and cleverly constructed.Overall this is what the original mix should have been.

9/10

The album version is not really a great track by any measure, but a guilty pleasure nonetheless.

Will there be a club remix of this song made? I mean the melody is too good to not have a hard trance version.

Posted by john2 on Oct-12-2004 00:40:

The proper name of this remix is "Antillas Club Mix",so nope, this is the club version. There is also and "Antillas Dub Mix" if you don't like the vocals. In advance there is Wally Lopez La Factoria dub Mix,but i didn't like it at all.The full list of the remixes is the bellow one:

Just Be (Antillas dub mix)
Just Be (Antillas club mix)
Just Be (514 mix)
Just Be (Wally Lopez La Factoria vocal remix)
Just Be (Wally Lopez La Factoria dub mix)

So right now, nope there isn't any hard trance version and don't know if there are plans for one.

That's what i thought It is a petty tough, this tune would insane with a fat bass

Bought the cd single today:

Tiesto feat. Kirsty Hawkshaw - Just Be [Magik Muzik 820-2]

01. Antillas Radio Edit (3:13)
02. Antillas Club Mix (9:49)
03. 514 Mix (8:43)
04. Wally Lopez La Factoria Vocal Remix (8:57)
05. Ancient History (8:42)

The Antillas remixes and the 514 mix (Tiesto's own I presume?) are good, and then this dreadful remix of Wally Lopez appears, ... what a waste!

Ancient History isn't all that great either, maybe I should listen it more often, ... I like the drums but that panflute melody should come earlier, ... weird track

There is something odd and weird about the vocals regardless of the version we speak of. IMO the lyrics and vocal tone dont work well. Its imo not a very good song. I perfer Walking on Clouds because the fore mentioned elements of this song have a higher production standard overall.

I believe the orginal of Just Be is the best version. none of the remixes try to change or rework the vocal tone or lyrical structure in a hope to improve the song. The remixes just add varying elements in the synth and bassline but no change to the vocals or lyrical structure. thus the remixes imo fail to rescue this song.

Didnt like the orginal that much and hate the remixes more.

Orginal

5/10

Remixes

3/10

I think it has a lot to do with the mode you were in when you first heard the song.

I heard the antillas remix in Mysteryland. In the middle of no where, outside in the afternoon, just after re:locate -typhoon.

First i was very disappointed, i was wondering how could tiesto be playing such a crap song but when the melody kicked in the place went wild. I guess i just cant forget the moment and thats why i like to hear the song again.

BTW i still like the tune as i said it only needs a better bass and a bit less vocals

Posted by swisstoni_uk on Oct-13-2004 00:11:

i didnt like it myself, until i heard the Antillas Club Mix live when Tiesto was in Birmingham, it was awesome, the superb vocals really give some emotion to the song, it'd be nothing without Kirsty.

I think the overall 514 mix is average, the Antillas Remixes are the best and I want the Antillas Dub Mix too, but no vinyl nor cd rlease in Holland yet Ancient History is utter crap anyway, with annoying panflute!!!!!

Nebula has weird shortended versions sometimes on those cd-singles

Antillas remix is alot better then the original IMO --> that one does nothing to me

but yeah, i was quite annoyed with Nebula's horrendous editing on the Three Drives - Carrera 2 release. Nu-NRG's remix ended up being under 5 minutes!

That's because the UK chart rules changed this year, you can now have 40 minutes on a CD instead on 20 minutes as previous, as long as all tracks are remixes and not differing tracks.
