Thumbs up Mozilla Firefox is the shiznit

so the browser is great. better than IE by far, after using it for about a week now.

and what's even better, i just typed in "dan" in the address bar, and took me straight to the website i wanted : diversalertnetwork.com -- the website i was looking at yesterday. nice that keyworks seem to work?

anyways, i thought that was a breakthrough in searching the internet

firefox > ie

Posted by Pimp_fu on Oct-01-2004 19:23:

I'm not so excited about the keywords, I just like the fact that I can type in a website and go THERE, rather than FREE PORN WITH A VALID EMAIL! Or FREE SMILEIES ON YOUR DESKTOP!

Firefox runs painfully slow on my system, to the point where I can't use it. It takes so much time to load a page into the browser window that it's like browsing with dial-up. I can't figure out for the life of me why - most other people seem to agree that it loads pages faster than IE, but for me it would take about two minutes to load a page on the TA forums using firefox versus two seconds using IE. I've tried just about everything short of reinstalling windows, so I've just given up on it, at least for now.

tabulated browsing. thats all I got to say...

fucken love it.

I agree with u, pages load a lot slower in my system with firefox.

But I love some features, that firefox got, like tha tab browsing.

firefox is a bit slower on my system than IE, and it doesn't work too well with plugins...videos and animations embedded in web pages usually dont show too well on firefox...

however, i have noticed a significant decrease in the amount of spyware and malware getting into my system after having used firefox consistently for more than a few weeks now, which is why i still use it...

Firefox runs lightning fast on my box.

and I haven't seen a popup ad in months.

It blows IE out of the water.

I've been using it for a while, it runs a few pages slow, but other than that, I love it.

.. and it's not even a final release yet

I don't understand what's so special about it...someone care to explain what makes it better than IE?

Posted by eev on Oct-01-2004 20:56:

Opera > Firefox

x Keyword browsing
x Built-in pop up ad blocking
x Download manager

x Supports WWW standards

Only downsides of Firefox:

-slower startup than IE
-Shockwave does not work well

Other than that, it's the best.

Posted by starlabs on Oct-01-2004 21:24:

Yeah... tabbed browsing and automatic popup blocking. Ownz!

If you're having probs with Firefox, try Mozilla. Or Opera. Plenty of different options out there - just don't use IE. There's so many security holes it's not even funny. Really.

Shockwave works fine for me...?

The only reason IE loads faster is because its built in to the Windows explorer system... so technically, IE is already running when you double clicky the icon.

but once Firefox is running, it's easily faster than IE.

what is tabbed browsing?

Aside from what everyone else said, it's a LOT less buggy than IE. More secure, too.

I've been using Mozilla browsers since I switched to Linux about a year, maybe a bit more, ago. Love it.
