have you not kept your headshell that came with the decks? you can always buy a new headshell. htfr stock them but i would reccommend using someone else cos they are crap.

to be honest though, i would reccommend just buying new styli for your concordes if you still have them. they are a better cart, and it will work out cheaper

if you haven't still got them, i would reccommend the concorde scratch (the others are useless for any scratching)

It's a matter of what you do with your decks. If your primary thing is scratching then the m44-7 is the perfect cart. If you mix and don't scratch, you probably should stick w/ your concords.

hm
to be honest i am using the concorde needles mounted on technics headshells, but i need to know a way to clean them properly so i dont need to buy new ones
i am using serato now and on the calibration test i get something that its explained as "dust" on the manual
record is perfectly cleaned....but i still get that thing

I use M44-7 for mixing and it works fine. Excellent sound quality and such. Also, it is impossible for those carts to skip. Even when I accidentally nudge them, they just wobble for a second and return to normal (unless I push them on purpose).

if they are on headshells they are not concordes, they are OM, in which case mounting you m44-7's on the headshell will be no problem. remove the headshell from the tonearm, remove the OM cart from it with a small screw driver and very carefully remove the wires from the back of the cart (if they break the chances are you will need to buy a new headshell so be very careful with them). then mount the m44-7 in its place, checking the instructions you get with it to see if you need to attatch any further weight to the headshell. loosley screw the cart to the headshell and set it so that the stylus point is approx 52mm from the beginning of the headshell (not the bit that goes into the tonearm, measure from the black plastic washer on the cart plug thing) and then tighten the screws when you have it in the correct position. if you bought a technics deck, you will have got a funny shaped bit of white plastic. this is for setting the stylus to the correct position so if you have it, use it, because it makes life much easier. just stick the headshell in the hole (use stylus guards in case you slip) and set the tip of the stylus to line up with the end of the white plastic.

you can get stylus cleaning fluid for use with the little brush you get with the cart. but to be honest, you don't need to use it that often, a quick brush every now and again should keep the stylus free of gunk. you need to brush softly down the cantilever of the stylus (i.e. from back to front) a few times. i do it so the brush is parallel to the cantilever to get more brushage per stroke.

as far as the calibration test thing goes, i ain't no expert of serato but i am guessing it would also say that when your styli are fucked, so if it gives that reading after you have cleaned your styli well, its time to buy new styli. if you were happy with the carts before, its reccomended to just get replacement styli for them as it will work out cheaper.
