Monster Bass n' Rhythm Thread

Alright guys, it's starting to feel like my grandmas house in here. So to spice things up and learn a few things too, I open the floor to the monster bassline thread.

What is it? This is your chance to show off you rhythmic skill.
Post a sample less than 1 minute long of your best bassline and percussion. Treat this almost like a standalone song, so it should have a degree of progression to it.

Try to keep any melodies out of it; Leads, for example. Pads should be ok I guess cuz you can really drive a rhythm if you do it properly. And dear god nothing less than 128kbps.

Do your best to have it well mixed and mastered.

Whats the point of this? There are so many of us on here, and honestly nothing interesting is happening, so its mostly for fun. But also an excellent way to learn some things. If you hear something in someones sample that you would like to know how to do, you can ask and be just that much more knowledgable.

I'll put something together and post in a day or so to get the ball rolling.

Or if you guys think this is stupid i'll just delete the thread, heh.

Uh oh, sounds like a put up or shut up thread!

Posted by RungeKutta on Oct-02-2004 07:08:

I'll try to whip something up, but I'm still quite amature. What would be cool, is that if people also posted the "source" files from which ever program they used. If not fine, but it would be great if you did.

Let's try to keep this on the top...don't let it die. Well, let's see what I come up with.

Something I Ate in the Jungle

Hahaha the title kills me.

It sounds very good, man...I imagined this reverberated shredding lead sound with it and it was nice as heck, hehe. I made one but my ears are too tired so I didn't want to upload something annoying to you guys' ears.

Posted by moth on Oct-03-2004 03:51:

Woo! Sweet Pimp, killer ass congas, and I am a conga man.

Posted by Pimp_fu on Oct-03-2004 03:57:

Thank you, thank you. No loops. Programmed from samples of one shots.

Posted by Pimp_fu on Oct-03-2004 06:06:

rather enjoyed it, and took the time to listen to some of the other tracks while I was at it, good stuff. Lots of great basslines.

its quite simple i think... i think you should eq the kick and the bass to be more bassy... less mids... and i would also recommend you eqing of all channels in the rhythm and compressing some of it.. but thats what id do... its just too sharp for my taste... specially the bassline.. but its good if you like it

and here is my contribution for the thread... its a loop of 1 bar from a track of mine... i just love the complicated rhythms its not best mixed but who cares... sounds good in my sets
Xetro - Forgotten (Original mix) - Loop 1

I liked it until Britney came up, haha, that was cheesy, man, but the rhythm sounds like a score from a video game...I want more.

Yeah, it sounds drowned out a little but I loved it...it's one of those rhythms that you know that the bass is gonna hit sometime with a new progression and you're in suspense...I liked it a lot.

Haha, Eat this bass. No loops, all one shot.

If anyone wants to see the FLStudio file for this i'd be happy to post it. Its unlikely that you will have all the plugins and samples i used, but you'll still be able to see the different patterns.

Dang Haak, that kick in Tribalmother owns me. Nice samples all around.

Yo mystery, sick ass sample, what reverb are you using on that clap? lush as hell.

Well actually the one shot I used actually had quite a long tail, so I just extended it a bit with Reason's reverb... basically I just added lots of decay to it.
