So, Are republicans really spinning this?!?!.. is all they can? .. can the president start focusing on the #1 issue america cares about most??.. Economy? perhaps...

Heh. That was pretty funny.

Liquid, I'm just curious--with regards to the economy, what are your real expectations? What numbers would be acceptable for you? Our economy is currently growing at a quarterly rate of 3.3%, which is not exactly a poor number for a developed economy. Employment numbers are coming back and are stabilizing. It's not the go-go 90's anymore. Inflation is low, interest rates are still at near-historical lows, home ownership is at an all time high(I just bought a house myself). It's not exactly doomsday out there. But seriously, since opinions are largely based on statistics, what specific targets and economic statistics do you think are reasonable and appropriate?

Historically low interest rates arent an indicator of a strong economy. Politicians usually like to claim that they are, but in reality low interest rates indicate that the economy needs a kick start.

* got hired last month. +1 for US employment
* making good money from job, spending lots of it (since i moved to new city). my 'consumer spending' is way high.
* bought a new house
* secured a super low interest rate on mortgage

the economy is kick ass

Well, I can only talk from the perspective of living in Florida ( Miami/Broward/Palm Beaches). It's not exactly doomsday, that's right, you could see dozens of constructions all over the beach here, with luxuru aps. going on sale, starting on the 1.2 millions and up.. it's not Manhattan, is just Sunny Isles and Aventura.. or .. plain Miami Beach. But there's the other side to it all.. job has down in an increasing way down here, my friends dad, who worked for Hewlett Packard, has been laid out, as one of the cuts they are doing.. and Im seen this happening to the dads of other friends, friends, and so on.. it's become a general, scary talk, as well trend.. it's not a coincidence, that's for sure. Things arent as bright as the president would like it to be seen ( or trys to ).. and Im myself having dificulty trying to find a better job.. nowadays, you just gotta b happy with the little that you get, is better then nothing.

As for Izzy, consider yourself lucky, and enjoy it.

edit.

We're sorry, but your score of -4100 is not sufficiently high to justify your imperialistic foreign adventure. You will be billed for this test, and you may take it again, by pressing the "Repeat Test" button below.

This is exactly how the conservatives turned the tables on the 1st debate in 2000 on Gore. They used a cute punch line and flipped it around, twisted it in all directions, and pushed it hard enough to stick.

Dems., don't worry about it. Here's why:

1. Sunday's morning round up was, for better or worse, absolutely obsessed with the new polls showing Kerry either in a tie or pulling ahead. I really hate the media's obsession with the polls, but this time it actually served a favor as it substantially drowned out a good portion of conservative pundits attempting to fire this cute little talking point out.

2. Condi Rice had to defend her ass for her prior knowledge of Iraq's nuclear capability, or lack thereof. Because of the NYTimes piece on Sunday, all Conservatives were, once again, forced to backpedal and defend themselves. If there's one thing the Conservatives absolutely suck at doing, it's putting on a successful defense when the facts are clearly not in their favor. This alone was worth me putting up with my Sunday morning hangover and watch as much morning talk shows as I could.

3. Folks, Kerry wiped Bush with his ass, and no matter how much the conservatives want to spin, they themselves cannot get away from that fact. Bush was the antithesis of Kerry - nervous, agitated, clearly annoyed, and incredibly repetitive of the same talking points over and over.

---------------

It's for these reasons why this cute little line is not affective in any way against Kerry. It also goes without saying that I firmly believe that even the Conservatives know what Kerry was referring to here, though he likely could have reworded it better. Nevertheless, I'm still enjoying the defensive stance and "spitballs" being hurled by the Conservatives.

-------------------

Partisan hacking aside, I do think Cheney will do a much better job against Edwards, and may actually help gain a point or two for the Conservatives. Although the fact checking may not be on Cheney's side, he still carries himself with a much more firmer fist than Bush. I believe that if anyone has any doubts on who wears the pants in the White House, it will most certainly be revealed tomorrow night. Plus any fact checking performed will be somewhat too late, because the resolute (but inaccurate) Cheney will demonstrate his eeevil Dark Force power and pursuade many weak-minded swing voters.

MUUUUHAAAHAAAHAAAHAAAHAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
