At least he interacts with the crowd and has a positive message. I think it's really cool that he gives a shit - I, for one, was not like WTF...

And, of course, I will be there on Sunday night!!!!!!!!!!!!!

atleast reserve it untill the end of the set.. not in the middle of a track.. it would totally kill the vibe. *I think*
DJs can interact with crowds without interrupting the tunes... go see armin.

is he gay? whats the deal with him?

well! this is a Roll call for Danny T. to see who is going. Not a critique of Danny's performance. I think you want the Armin thread.

I have seen Armin many times and I do agree that he's a fabulous crowd pleaser.

But Danny did not kill the vibe when he "interrupted" his set - if anything, it generated even more positive feedback, in my opinion. Perhaps you should go see Danny?

Posted by Sly_Guy on Oct-03-2004 19:47:

yes, see the vibe danny creates [especially here] before judging his 'on mic' performances.
Oh, BTW I'm totally in on this.

Posted by drewfactor on Oct-03-2004 22:22:

I'm commin'! This should be great. I really hope the sound is good at the docks though, I"m not a big fan of their sound system...maybe they'll tweak it right this time. I've never heard him live, so this should be an experience. This guy is a house legend, been around a while hasn't he?

Posted by HCP on Oct-03-2004 22:30:

I'm there!

NEXT SUNDAY

Albert.

Are you talking about Danny?

In any case, I'm there and I'm going to TRY my best to stay until the end like last time... But partying all summer and the beginning of the Fall has really taken it's toll on me...

What time does it start? Do you think if I come around midnight that there will be a huge lineup?

Dude Danny's fucking awesome. You forget that this is a party, not a performance. We don't want to watch God spin records on a pedestal isolated from the audience and get blinded by discombobulating lasers - that's for tourists and trendies. Danny interacts, he comes out of the booth to greet the fans that show up early, he does his own lights so it's actually coordinated with the music, and in general just shows that the audience matters. Seems that for a lot of people, smiling at the crowd and doing a little dance in the DJ booth passes for "interaction", but even if the DJ is really into his set, it doesn't mean for a second that he's in tune with the crowd like Danny is.

What's the difference between a 30-second speech near the beginning of a house set and a mind-numbing 5-minute buildup in the middle of a trance set? Only differences I can think of are that (a) the speech recognizes the crowd who are just as important as the DJ and (b) there's only one speech for the whole set.

Ticket's sitting right in front of me, I'll be there!

Posted by Enraptured on Oct-04-2004 02:07:

I will be there.

Danny's set at BOA was wicked, and I expect this one to be just as good...

woohoo!
