Symphonic Trance?

Sure we all know about the large numbers of requests for the illusive 'Best Vocal Trance', but how often do you get a request for some good Symphonic Trance?

Well, here's one.

I checked out 'The Guide', and they had listed:
Brainbug - Rain
Crescendo - Are You Out There
-and some other track that didn't sound very good.

Now I love Brainbug; the Crescendo track I'd never heard before, but it sounded really good, and I figure a lot of other great pieces like Finished Symphony could probably fit in here, so I was hoping for some recommendations.

Thanks.

The Morrighan - Requiem

The best example I can think of, and probably the best trance remix of a classical piece... ever.

not really trance but this is what comes to mind:

Way out west Killa
Chicane Empires
Hybrid - Higher than a Skyscraper
Hybrid - True To Form
Rob Dougan - Clubbed to Death (Kurayamino mix)
Rob Dougan - Speed Me Towards Death
Rob Dougan - Furious Angels
DJ Tiesto - Forever Today
DJ Tiesto & Geert Huinink - Magik Journey

can't think right now but there are plenty more

I think the Funaki mix of Woody van Eyeden's 'Unfinished Symphony' falls into this category. Beautiful orchestral strings on this one.

As has already been said, there's plenty more but this is the one that sprang to mind for me.

check out all of jan vayne's classical trancelations vinyl samplers or just get the cd.

most of shane 54 stuff is pretty good his album is a must for syphonic trance heads.

Nikelson - yin is a top track.

Aria - Dido (Armin Van Buuren mix) Beautiful song!!

....or maybe that was opera trance(?)

Posted by Puuhis on Oct-05-2004 13:08:

These two are more like breaks but:
Hybrid - Unfinished Symphony
Hybrid -Finished Symphony

Kai Tracid also has some beautiful Orchestra mixes like,
Kai Tracid - 4 Just 1 Day (Orchestra Mix)
Kai Tracid - Life Is Too Short (Orchestra Mix)
Kai Tracid - Tiefenrausch (The Deep Blue) (Orchestra Mix)
Kai Tracid - Too Many Times (Orchestra Mix)

also, Masssive Attack - Unfinished Sympathy

I was listening to Rob Dougan just last night and thinking about his music style. I don't know if it falls under trance, but it's definitely orchestral. Furious Angels sounds a lot better off the Matrix soundtrack IMO, without the vocals.

Among new tracks, I'd hazard that Reflekt - Need to Feel Loved and Max Graham - Gone might qualify. I'm not sure, like I said, that's why I asked.

A little different from some of the others listed, but:

Infected Mushroom - Dancing With Kadafi

I wasn't a huge fan of the B.P. Empire album, but this track just about makes it worth buying on its own. Progresses through about six distinct parts and incorporates Spanish guitar, piano, violins and more. A modern day symphony if there ever was one.

Don't miss it.

Rollerball - Albioni
Shane - Vampire
Gouryella songs
Gaida - elements
Yahel - Voyage/Devotion
Fire & Ice - Souvenir De Chine

2 name a few

rank 1 - symsonic

I'm bumping this thread b/c I dig symphonic trance as well, and was wondering if there are any more songs that can be added to the list.

They don't have to be released after 2004, classics welcome.

I'm also adding:

Marc Van Dale w/ Enrico - Water Wave (DJ Quicksilver Mix)
^killer violin strings in that one.

DJ Tiesto - Forever Today

Symphonic prelude followed by completely synthesized hard trance != symphonic trance.

Gouryella songs

Similarly, orchestral interludes during a three minute long breakdown, preceded and followed by uplifting trance != symphonic trance.

Real symphonic trance is very rare, from what I can tell. Personally, I'd also like to know where more is available.

Mark Thornton - Theme for Star Crossed Lovers

And bte that Nickleson track with the stings were sampled and only appeared on the promo's I am sure, the actual release didn't have them cause of some licencing problem.

Could be wrong though...

those few string stabs make a symphonic trance track?
if only beethoven and bach had known symphonic music was that easy, would've saved them some time

Posted by Massive on Apr-10-2006 18:18:

Now, if you're looking for a combination of "trance" music and classical/"symphonic" music, this might be your best choice -> http://www.discogs.com/release/200468

Posted by N:Dure on Apr-11-2006 03:18:

Thumbs up

Armin Van Buuren - Sail
Hybird - Unfinished Symphony

and why no one mentioned Adagio for Strings?

Posted by Nrg2Nfinit on Apr-11-2006 06:46:

yomanda - synths and strings
transmotion - message no. 5

Posted by Lunar Phase 7 on Apr-11-2006 14:14:

Synth and Strings, I'd say is a definate no no.

It's barely passable as music!
