Baseball playoffs thread

So here are the matchups, if you don't already know
I don't follow baseball much (except in October), but from what I read, I thought it was pretty exciting that they weren't decided until the very last day of regular season play.

AL:
NY Yankees vs. Minnesota Twins
Boston Red Sox vs. Anaheim Angels

NL:
LA Dodgers vs. St Louis Cardinals
Houston Astros vs. Atlanta Braves

What are your picks and predictions?

Division Series

Twins over Yanks in 5 (Cyntana + Yankee pitching that WILL get lit up in this series)
Angels over Red Sox in 5 (Terry Francona is the Red Sox manager...enough said)

Cards over Dodgers in 4 (Cards triple headed monster too much for the blue)
Astros over Braves in 5 (This is the year the Astros finally get over the hump)

Championship Series

Angels over Twins in 6 (Santana is a 1 man team in a 5 game series, not a 7 game series)

Astros over Cards in 7 (Will the Cards overachieving pitchers finally fall back to earth in this series?)

World Series

Astros over Angels in 6
(Magican Astros ride ends with a ring for Roger Clemens)

wow... nobody has any faith in the dodgers...
they used to be my dad's favorite team.
i haven't been following the season, so i don't know how well/poorly they've been playing this year, but it's cool that they got into the playoffs at all.

I picked and still pick them over the Cards and to go to the WS. I just think the Red Sox have the best team in baseball when they play the right way.

Posted by verndogs on Oct-07-2004 01:19:

The Dodgers and their fans are just happy to be in the playoffs (especially clinching the NL West against their hated rivals)...they suffered through the dark ages of Rupert Murdoch owning the team and having a GM who couldn't buy a playoff spot.

Except for the relief pitchers, including an uncharacteristic performance by Rivera - he didn't even get anyone out before the Twins scored 2 runs to tie the game. They would've been ahead were it not for that bounce over fence.
Hopefully the Yanks can soon get the lead again and give him a chance to redeem himself.
