Why does Orange Juice taste so bad

after brushing your teeth. I mean the taste is horrible...bluck. is there some sort of logical explanation for this? Or am I the only one who experiences this.

i like orange juice. When i used to be a big pothead i'd drink orange juice all the time because it was soothing on my throat.

I like orange juice with lots of pulp. just think, "it's a meal", it fills you up

Yeah there's something about orange juice after brushing your teeth. It probably has to do with some chemical reaction, given that OJ is highly acidic...

toothpase is an alkali
oj is acidic

Because your mom is a health freak and she only buys orange juice with the added calcium so you get strong bones and stuff and it's all you've ever had to drink in the house and you're so sick of the taste you don't care about the added calcium anymore.

Is apple juice an acid too? Because apple juice also tastes bad (and by that, I mean even worse than apple juice normally tastes) after brushing your teeth.

I think it depends on the ripeness of the fruit.
The more unripe, the more acidic juices there are.
Must be somat to do with the acidic juices cuz u get it with all fruit, except bananas because they're not juicy.

I just asked my dad (he's a scientist, not the kind that would deal with orange juice and toothpaste, but still...), he said it's a chemical reaction caused by the alkaline toothpaste that's still on your teeth reacting with the acidic orange juice, and the result of the reaction tastes bad.

So you guys pretty much nailed it...

how come anything after brushing your teeth tastes bad? except like mints and tic-tacs..
