Anyone have a wisdom tooth taken out?
if so how long did it take till it felt better. I had mine taken out last friday and it still hurts like fuck. and the cheapo bastard didn't give me many pain pills. perhaps they fucked something up and I need to go back, or else it just takes a while to heal up?
yeah i had four out hahaha...
i think it took me about a week for the swelling to go down. i had a good dentist though...i didn't need pain killers at all...
i'm never gonna get wisdom teeth...thank god.
I have all my left, they dont bother me?
it was about a week for me. they were all impacted and had to get cut out. my doctor gave me codeines but that shit makes me sick so i think i only took one or two of them.
nobody on TA has had them out yet...
ok well maybe i did... 4 at once,.. i was lucky b/c i had no swelling and was fine by that same night...
I need to take mine out soon.. I'll be sure to give you the play by play after its done
I had all 4 of mine removed at once during my senior year of high school. They gave me 30 percocets, but I ended up not taking one of them. Though my jaw was sore, my face swollen, and the stitches popping felt weird, I really wasnt out of comission for more than about 8 or 9 hours, as my then girlfriend would be happy to testify to
I had all of them out, and I was only sore for like 4 days. A little chipmunky, but not too bad.
If it persists, I would suggest going back and asking if thats normal, or not.

damn I feel like a little baby. Most of y'all had 4 taken out and here I am bitching about 1...well this bloke of a dentist is still at lunch but I gonna call him up when he gets back and demand he take a look at it and make sure its ok, and refill my damn prescription... I paid good money for the removal and that should entitle me to *free* follow up and one refill...lol yeah rite.
i hope Dr. Nick gets back from his lunch soon.
I had 2 of them inbedded inside of my gum so they had to be surgically removed. Thank god for painkillers and tranqulizers
It took me about 3 or 4 days until I could stop taking the painkillers.
all 4, it wasnt bad at all. the gas was so nice and then they put me on oxy-codeine pills. man i was out all damn weekend. id do it all again, but w/o so much bleeding
I'm not sure but in France they make it a much more important operation so you're in tip top shape when you leave ... kind of ..
you sleep in the hospital the night before operation starts freaking early...
I remember waking up after being under anesthetic for 3 hours and the guy next to me was bitching and the only thing I could do was tell him to stfu
Had 4 teeth pulled out ..
That evening I was out on a bicycle doing some graffiti and 2 days after I was on an airplane moving to the USA
Hardcore
I personaly felt a little numb but not really pain
No and I don't recommend it unless they're causing you serious problems. The wisdom teeth scam is perhaps the most egregious abuse of the trust patients place in medical professionals.
i had 4 taken out i was fine that same night out partying with my new vicodins
i had all four of mine taken out and also took two friends to the oral surgeon to get theirs removed too..
so i suppose you could call me an expert on the subject
swelling persists for about a week, but after that you should be fine. you'll notice them healing more and more each day and every day you'll be able to open your mouth more and more.
you'll get all kinds of food stuck in that damn hole though. it's such a bitch, but your dentist should have given you a tube to squirt water in them.. if he didn't i would call him up and get it. if food heals in there you're gonna have problems.
good luck man!

friend of mine had hers taken out last tuesday, hers stopped hurting probably by saturday, and now she can eat fine, luckily for her she works at a dentists office, so if she needs to take food out of her holes it's easy.
it's not that bad, it hurts like a bitch for the first day and then you get over it. Don't take tylenol 2 on an empty stomach tho..
I was told I needed to have them out when I was like 18 or 19. I failed to do that and am now 25 and have yet to have any problems. I'm not doing shit about them until they cause me problems. They have grown at an angle in, but don't seem to cause me any problems. Food gets stuck in there every once in a while and it's annoying to get out, but no big deal.
i had 3 surgically removed, doc couldn't find the fourth one...
i rolled around in bed for a couple of days but didn't take any of the vicadeine (spelling?) prescribed to me... i think i sold them to a local addict...
No - I was real close to having them taken out a few months ago, but $1200... c'mon...
They're not even really bugging me much a all - only occaisionally when I chew ice with my molars or something like that.
Though I did have a damaged salivary gland operated on... The doc gave me some Vikkoden and a few days after, I took one (just for the hell of it) and went on a mystical journey while listening to Magik 3....
Good times
Now where did I put that Vikkoden?
OMG, man, what an experience.
The dentist had me in the chair, we were all ready to go, and then he turns to me and goes:
Sean- I'm not going to lie to you, b/c of your situation theres about a 15% chance that I could hit this nerve, and you'll lose feeling in the lower part of your jaw forever....just to let you know so if it happens I'm not responsible.
I was hooked up to this pulse reader, and I was level at about 80 until when he told me this I jumped to like 145 or something, it was like beep-beep-beep-beep (crazy beeps, like a Da Rude song). I was just like, why don't you give me the novicane right now, and everything turned out ok.
And then my cheeks were all fucked up making me look like a chipmunk for about a week, but it all went back to normal. Make sure you buy ice packs before you have the surgery so you can ice your jaw when you get home.
yeah you wanna ice it 20 minutes on and then 20 minutes off to reduce swelling.
