Whoa whats going on with O'Reilly

Looking at his Talking Points and Memos in the past few weeks, he seems to have CHANGED:

Sympathy for those under siege: That is the subject of this evening's "Talking Points Memo." [There's] No mail segment at the end of The Factor tonight because we're going to throw directly to the Vice Presidential Debate in Cleveland, but much of the mail last night echoed sentiments by Jason Balcom who lives in Tallahassee, Florida.

"Bill, if you had done to Senator Kerry what Rather did to President Bush, you'd be crushed by the press. Why are you sticking up for Rather? Nobody would stick up for you."

Well, that's most likely true, Jason. And I might not have sympathized with Mr. Rather a few years ago. So it is safe to say that I have changed a bit.

I do believe Dan Rather (search) and his team wanted the Bush documents to be true, so they did not check the story thoroughly enough, obviously. I also believe Mr. Rather should have sought out those who bamboozled him, rather than defend the situation.

And I have said all that. But I take no joy in Rather's pain. And even in Martha Stewart's even though she's guilty and remains arrogant about it.

My outlook is somewhat personal. Every day I'm attacked, threatened, scorned, mocked by those who dislike us and even by some who appreciate the program. That goes with the territory. I'm not whining about it.

But I now know that constant criticism and threats can wear you out. Dan Rather's not getting away with anything. He's been held accountable in the court of public opinion. If we continue to punish the guy, it just seems to be over the top.

I understand why some of you don't like him. But consider the old saying those you hate control you. Hate clouds the mind, suppresses joy. It makes life darker. I'm a justice kind of guy, not a hate kind of guy.

Both Mr. Rather and Ms. Stewart have received punishment. Now it's time to give them a break. Many of you are accusing me of going liberal or soft or just being dumb. That's not it at all. I'm just tired of the hateful media. I don't hate anybody, although I dislike some. If I feel sorry for those getting pounded, it's because I identify with them to some degree. As the Bible suggests, I'll leave the vengeance to the Lord.

And that's "The Memo."

Poor guy, he tries to stop the hate and what does he get?

His fans hate him.

O'Reilly is a complete turd, whenever someone challenges him on his show he turns obnoxious and tactless in dealing with them because naturally he doesn't like their opinions. I am often left astounded when he starts screaming at others as though he was their parent. While he may have a hit show he is someone I have no respect for as a person. Maybe he puts on that character to impress his audience, which says a lot in of itself.

I was about to say.. I saw this yesterday, I was like. WTF is he on? heh..

are you stupid?

Have you seen his recent shows.....who cares if he holds a conservative ideal. Fact of the matter is that recently he has been licking the democrats balls and completely bashing the conservatives.
Your constant whining is really annoying.....

For example: go watch his show from yesterday when he completely talks over some woman and basically tells her to shutup and said she was wrong when she said Cheney won the debate.

After the Bush debates...he completely went off on the entire Republican party and called Bush a tired slouch...and cheney, "evil old man"

Geez get a clue...narrowminded moron
Also look at his ratings and those of CNN....I doubt the entire country is conservative and thats why Foxnews is #1??...

I would have to agree- he is probably (recently) the only fair and balanced thing on fox

I dont know if he is trying to put on the nicer guy act a bit to get Kerry on the show (Kerry said he would appear).

Yawn, anymore names left in your vocabulary to utilize. I quit debating with you a while back because it was obvious that you couldn't do so effectively. Moreover where in my post is the subject of conservative, republican mentioned. As you yourself so carefully hightlighted he could easily scream at a Republican as a Demorcat, does that make his actions tactful, and I am the narrow minded moron who is stupid Wow.

Effective debating on TA: whining/name calling/crying/bashing the "moronic american public"/ranting on adminstration policies........??? LOL yea ..sure buddy

Hmm lets look at NYCTRANCEFAN's awesome vocabulary:
quote:
O'Reilly is a complete turd

quote:
Rummie the Dummy

quote:
Texas Bushwacker

Yay you get 50points!

If I recall you left the boards for a small break.
I left the boards because of internship interviews and exams.
We are both back...anyways what was the point of your post then?

To express your hatred towards the man? The point of the thread was to talk about his own crowd upset with him on being too mushy mushy with the democrats lately.

Like I said when you have something constructive to say rather than sit your ass at that computer and name call the adminstration/american public/news reporters you disagree with; then we talk.

Plus most people on this board can agree with me that you whine and cry more than anyone on this board. I won't even begin to speculate when this really began because I know when. However thats opening a whole new can of worms...and you know it.

Patting yourself on the back by assuming what most people on this forums opinions are about me is ludicrous, if you had read my post on O'Reilly instead of jumping to your assinine statements about Republican and Democrats you would have seen that the basis for which I despise Bill O'Reilly is the fact that he treats people on his show with a lot of arrogance when speaking to them. I find that repulsive you apparently do not.

You do not name call however Why don't you post more Kerry flip flop threads and how the French are this and that. You once again fail to realize that you do the samething to others yet try foolishly to be critical of such sentiments that I post. Maybe if you started a critical debate instead of asserting what the opinions of others on this board is then you might have something better than direct personal insults to post.

Here is a little eyeopener for you does Rumsfeld care if I think he is dumb, does Bush care. Seeing my great personal connections to these people it must really affect them. I ask you to demonstrate where I launch personal attacks on other forum members uninstigated.

BTW. Speedracer I have been a long member of this board and will debate anyone on a subject, I however has always made it clear that I do not care for insults from anyone. I will speak with people in a dialogue on an issue but once insults begin there is nothing left to debate. Instead we get a shouting match that runs off the topic.

Well im a veteran on TA overall...point is?

Anyways, I didn't say I didnt name call. I love name calling and it makes me feel good just like it makes you feel good name calling the administration/news reporters/ and the american public. Just making it clear for you to understand.

But if you adding insults to bill oreilly and then switching the tables and saying I dont make good debate threads....I find that.................[insert insulting comment at your liking]

Whatever dude, now that the thread has been hijacked, I have nothing to say to you and you have nothing to say to me, end of this discussion on my part with you. See my edited post (BTW) above.

On the Subject - This is perhaps the most interesting aspect of his statement, a recognition that the media is so dismissive of each other, whatever side you are on be it liberal, conservative and the harder to find it seem these days true moderate. I considered myself a moderate up until events unfolded in Iraq, until the Republicans have a new leadership or the Democrats take over, one which clearly affects the other at this point in time then I have to agree with Bill O'Reilly that those you hate do control you. I wouldn't say I hate the Republcan party since I supported them at one point in time not so long ago, on the other hand George Bush, Dick Cheney and the usual suspects yes I do hate them for what has happened in Iraq.

As for a softer side of Mr. O'Reilly I wouldn't draw that conclusion, just an acknowledgement on his part of deep American divisions today, media included.

That's not me btw, just some random internet pic. But it does capture the wait here, I'm gonna get a f*k load of popcorn and can't wait to watch this idea I was going for ....

You know I checked out The Factor tonight and I must say O'Reilly does seem kindler and gentler indeed, maybe there is something after all. He use to be a flame thrower. He even takes a longer time to cut off a ranting guest on his show. Few more Factors like this and I just might see why some of his loyal supporters are questioning his toughness.
