If I'm only buying one PvD album...

Which should it be? 45RPM, Seven Ways, Out There And Back or Reflections?

Posted by twisted on Oct-08-2004 09:22:

so do you only mean albums with his productions on them?

because...you forgot:

Politics Of Dancing
and what about Re-Reflections?

Posted by DJ Cinos on Oct-08-2004 09:23:

I mean only his artist albums...

Posted by starlabs on Oct-08-2004 09:31:

What about Global?

Posted by hgm005 on Oct-08-2004 09:49:

i'm a fan of 45 rpm and OTB

Posted by Trance Nutter on Oct-08-2004 09:52:

Don't get Reflections - VERY dissappointing.

Haven't heard 45RPM so I can't pass comment on that.

I would recommend 'Out There And Back' though, it really is a classic album, really excellent.

Posted by hgm005 on Oct-08-2004 09:59:

wait i like 7 ways too, you can't really go wrong with pvd in my opinion

Posted by Dave Piazza on Oct-08-2004 10:23:

The main reason why I really like PVD...

Out there and Back and Global

However, I than started to listen to attend his live performances and I was suprised to discover he plays some really kiddie hardcore german techno amist some of his excellent trance tunes.

So beware. Dont fall into the trap I did in beleiving that the production PVD is the same as the DJ PVD.

I understand the concept of adding hard trance to a trancy set to add spice ( i.e. tiesto ) but PVD doesnt add hard trance he builds around it seems imo.

My point is I like the production PVD ( I love all his work ) but hate when he plays his hard "bangin stuff" ( except for a few which I like , for example Murder Was the Bass etc.)

Just wanted to warn you if you didnt know already. Cuz no one told me; I had to find out the hard way

P.S.

Before you hard-core PVD start attacking please understand that I still love PVD just like you. I just have a differnt love for him than you. And please dont attack me cuz I said i dont like hard core german techno I was trying to be as kind as possible yet describe how I feel about it. Its just one of those sounds I can never really get into.

It doesn't work that way.

You'll need all of his CDs, and combined, they'll form the ultimate master PvD 23 CD boxset containing all of his unreleased work.

Alone, they're worthless.

PvD isn't THAT great, I just want one of his CDs, to mix in nicely into my collection, and to listen to when I feel like listening to light trance.

Reflections is the worst CD i've ever heard

I agree. If you can afford it I would recommend buying all his works. PVD is very talented and the best way to experience this talent is through his releases.

As I said before I love them all.

And I have converted many people into Trance through his works alone !

That's what I think as well. But then again, I don't really like trance.

I agree the cd is ..."different"

I dont have the cd but I have the vinyls. And I really like alot of the songs on the vinyls. I did like Crush before he banged the f#ck out of it in his sets

I love time of our lives. Which I have the pvd club mix. The cd version, which is like a rock/pop version was ok. But the club one was banging.

I dunno Thats Life really made the Reflections Vinyl pack worth it for me.

i would say get "out there and back" or "global"

if you go for global, make sure you're getting the CD//DVD
that DVD is what made me want to DJ and produce.....

Posted by E.Sv on Oct-08-2004 11:29:

01. Out There and Back
02. Reflections

Posted by DJ Cinos on Oct-08-2004 11:36:

So you think Reflections is better than 45RPM and 7 Ways?

Hmmm... I wouldn't dare to compare them...
Ten years between 45RPM and Reflections - PvD has changed...

Well, do you like 45RPM?

Very much, but of course it sounds very 'outdated' to a person who turned into trance music, for example, about a year ago .

yes I agree. this cd is more of a "classic" rather than something you can pop in ans listen to today in your car.

If you've heard BTs "Ima" you could do some comparison... have you? Personally I like it, even though it's a bit dated.

Posted by Laushinameee on Oct-08-2004 11:53:

If you only like 'trance' then get Out There And Back. Not that it is a 100% trance album, but it would be more suited to someone with a narrower view on music. If you want something a bit different and experimental and made on really shitty equipment then get 45RPM. I think its his best album but most people will just write it off as shit because it sounds so old now. Its a couple of years before IMA and sounds a lot older.
