Should Tuekry be allowed into the EU?
???
Personally I think they should. They still have some issues to discuss about with EU, but once they fulfill all the criteria, I don't see the problem with it. It's a modern secular country, and it would bring in a fresh workforce. I don't think current EU members should be overly worried about a huge muslim population influx, as there already are millions of turks working in Germany and other EU countries. Especially since those muslims are pretty much secular compared to those from other muslim countries.

my answer was in 20 yrs or so , beacsue turks are still old minded i don't they will feet in.
I say No, not until they sort out their racism issues, that is not something we want in Europe. As said before, a lot of turks have migrated into other countries anyway, it's not hard for them, but at the moment I don't think they have the mind-set needed and I think their attitudes in many issues needs dealing with first
yup
but why would they would actually want too is a different matter
cities like istanbul and ankara are major cosmopolitan centers that could easily mesh with the rest of europe, but large swaths of the country are still in the middle ages; that's to say nothing of turkey's repeated citations for human rights abuses, particularly in regard to the kurds
Yeah, even before the fall of the Iron Curtain Turkey was an ally of most Western European powers in the Mid East - so therefore they likely could have been in before E Euro countries. (Not to disqualify their merits)
Turkey has a lot of issues to deal with, but considering their orientations and in comparison to other nations in the area their ethnic distribution could be actually a stabilizing factor esp with a LOT of Turkish peoples or relations in Germany, et al. Kurds, Turks, Muslims and non coexist there reasonably well, and the fact that Israel is trying to join the EU - and perhaps could join before Turkey is highly suspect. (Read: they arent in Europe) Yet Turkey and Israel are strong allies due to the lack of Israel's airspace|

Turkey should be allowed to negotiate EU accession if they can realistically meet the economic, political, and social stability requirements of EU membership (assuming there is popular support for their accession in both the EU and Turkey). Although it is possible they'll make the cut in the future, I don't think it will happen any time soon.
Here's a good read: http://europa.eu.int/comm/enlargeme...endation_en.pdf
