[Prog?]Matti Leppanen - Wounds

Hello...

Been working with this for sometime, and it is quite finished, some percussion or FX maybe added/removed/changed.
It was first supposed to be something uplifting like...
But it ended up being rather deep progressive.

yeah i thought wow new style music? but the sample is..eh drunk?

Posted by Thunder5 on Oct-09-2004 16:19:

hmmm..it seems that the file corrupted somehow when I uploaded it.

Now I've uploaded it again.
And seems that the sample is ok now..

Posted by Mane on Oct-09-2004 16:38:

yeah its working fine now,
very nice atmosphere has your track its like downtempo? i like bass in bacground gives good feeling , melody is too loud, but very relaxing track keep it up

Posted by Massive84 on Oct-09-2004 16:55:

yes melody is really loud.

Nice relaxing, love those ambient pads.

maybe a tiny more punch in the kick, but thats it.

and maybe some small extra melody or riff for when the hihats come in.

thats it.

Thanks for the comments...

I'll have a look at the melody levels...

I agree, guitar thing does seem pretty loud...

Sounds like a nice track to me, not really my style but nice. Production sounds good, quite professional-sounding elements.

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Oct-10-2004 20:48:

Hmm, the guitar sounds off at times, mainly because the reverb/delay clashes with the following notes...

You really need a punchier kick, I can't even hear it in the mix from under the bassline.

Sounds like a very promising start but definitely needs more stuff.

Edit:

Also, the placing of the clap is really distracting...

Nice tune here Matti. Paddy sounds are very nice. The melody does seem a bit "out there", but I don't know if it's too loud (as people have mentioned) or what it could be. The actual guitar sound is good though, I like that a lot. The kick needs to be brought into the mix more - it sounds very quiet in comparison to the melody and I had to put on my headphones to actually hear it properly.

I've been listening to this sample for ages now. That guitary sound must have really caught me. Anyway, keep up the good work.

hey my DC++ friend
really nice pads used in the beginning, its kinda loud though, guitar is a little loud, i REALLY like the background bongo thingy, the shakers i dont think are in the right position they kinda sound random
kick definatly needs to be stronger
clap needs louder along with percs
overall sounds really good, just some mastering issues
keep @ it m8
peace out

seems like it'd be a great track to make love by... tho i agree the guitar could be taken down a dB or two overall great work though!!!

Nik, thanks for pointing this out. Though it took me sometime to think what you meant, but came to conclusion that you meant the clap should be on beats 2 & 4 instead of 1 & 3...

i really like this one, could you please post the full thing when it's finished (if it isn't already). technically seems open to improvement, try the tips other ppl posted already, but the atmosphere and mood on this is outstanding.

Posted by Decibel Device on Oct-11-2004 10:56:

The guitar sounds very cheap. Trow it out.
I Like your pads a lot, they give a nice atmosphere to te track. But i don't like the open hihat, it's to loud.
The bass is nice but the kick is to soft.

Nice track but there something missing to make your song special (nice stab / melody / vocal or something like that).

Thanks for feedback...

I'm not throwing the guitar out. Its a stayer..

I've been trying to figure out a melody or riff (vocals are out of question at the moment, as I can't sing or know anyone who is decent and I don't have the equipment for recording them) that would fit the mood of the track, but so far I've failed..

i like your intro pad a lot,a nd the guitar. maybe you could make the kick just a little bit louder though =). the overall atmosphere you create is amazing htough i really like it. that hi hat that comes in around 240 is too loud i think. nice track you got here, i would like to hear the full thing. try getting a counter melody in there too, another one and expand the guitar melody too =) good work

Everything what should be changed is already mentioned. Maybe try to put in some soft delayed panned percussion in stead of the clap.

Sounds promising. Keep up m8!

Ok.

Thank you for your feedback.

Put the "full" version for download (see the first post), though I feel it is not the final version.
Cause got this feeling that something is missing.

Matti, thats a huge improvment from the earlier version
Like others have said, the pads sound great, they create a perfect atmosphere for the track. kicks are alot better this time around and the tribalish drums in the back round sound pretty nice also. but i think in the beginning the hi's sounds a bit out of place almost. over all it is a nice mood setting track, and a large improvment since the previous version. keep up the good work mate.

Me like!
Everything there's to be said has already been said.
One thing though. Those pads(?) busting in and out of the track are sometimes a little off-beat i think. The (Pliddi-plit-pliddi-plit) thingie. Nice pads, nice bass
