Booking PvD

Im interested in bringing Paul van Dyk to Brazil for a benefit event...Does anyone have any idea what his fee would be? I know in the US he gets anywhere from 15-30 grand a night, I was wondering iof it would be that much down here gioven the exchange rate is 3 reais(local currency) for 1 dollar so paying that amount would be ridiculously high over here...Any help would be much appreciated. I heard his bookings are pretty much all done up to a year in advance, is this true? I will try and contact his booking agent as well..thnx again

15-30k a night? in the United States?
0 how any club would make any money by paying that for the DJ alone.

Only NY charges 40-50 bucks/head for PVD.

Boston, LA, Miami are around 20-25 bucks. Sometimes cheaper.

I know most of the top tier guys want their flight & stay paid for (or its the custom).

if its a benefit concert, wouldnt it be free? I mean except for conpensating for air fare and hotel and travel etc, doesnt a benefit concert mean that you have a cause you are supporting like a diesease or something?

Yes it would be a benefit concert, meaning that a part of the proceeds would go to an environmental agency...We would still have to pay PvD im sure and we would charge the public but our idea is to create awareness in the preservation of the environment here in Brazil

Everything's negotiable and PvD's not as greedy as these numbers make him out to be. I mean, he did a free show here in new york to benefit a september 11th charity...

just ask his booking agency or send an email to the nice people at the vandit offices. i really doubt you'd have to pay american prices for pvd.... that would be ridiculous.. plus, he loves going to warm places in winter...

Hehe thats what im hoping choobak..And especially since hes never been to Brazil, I'm suyre he would love it here I already contacted his booking people in germany, hopefully they will get back to mne ASAp

i think ur living in a fantasy mate no dj gets that for every set he plays most clubs cant afford it. he will get that much at one of events or larger events but not in a small club

I think he will do it - and I'm sure he'll like Brazil too

Posted by itsTrueSonic on Oct-09-2004 13:12:

yeah. PVD seems to love to travel the world. he even goes to Africa to spin (even though it's Cape Cod and Johannesberg, but hey it's still africa, although south africa is not a third world nation).

but yeah, pvd loves to go to the southern hemisphere during the winter time. unfortuantely, you would have to wait for winter 2005 or winter 2006, because he is probably booked for 2005 already.

or you could say that Brazil is a Third World Country and you have UNICEF supporting you.

hahahahaha

Just try.... That's the only advise I can give you...
If you haven't tried, than you really would end up with nothing!

I think its a better idea to email Markus or Merlijn at Vandit - they'll discuss it first hand with Paul rather than going through a third party agency

Oi! I grew up in 'cape cod'

"CAPE COD" hahahahahaha...
On another note for some reason I do not believe Paul has ever been to South America. He travels to Mexico often but has never been to South America which is really mindboggling....Before the Reflections Tour kicked off last yr the website mentioned that a South America tour was planned but it never materialized. Can u ask VANDIT why Paul has neglected the whole of South America? I just spent 3 months earlier in the year travelling through various countries and the party scene is really thriving. Cheers.

I dont think he has 'neglected' it - he just plays where he is booked.

$10000 for a booking fee for pvd could be somewhat reasonable, altho i'd think its probably around $7000 and $8000, plus airfare, hotel and all that other junk. to book pvd, not only do you have to book him way way before your event, but you also gotta have some recognition to your organization, either be somewhat known in the party production circles or have booked pvd in the past. my friends had to go thru this crap, they wanted to book pvd at one point.

not sure how it works out down in the states, up here in canada, its benson and hedges, i think, who brought him the last time. so to them, being a major tobaco company, it doesnt matter if they dont make much money on the show itself because they get to promote their product

i wish you the best of luck on organizing your event tho. who knows, maybe pvd would like a trip down to south america this winter
