remixing

what do producers use to do remixes with. Do they mostly use comp programs? If so which programs are best to use for this? I want to take old songs, especially stuff from the 70s and 60s and make new remixes of some them into a more modern sound with them to keep em alive. I just ordered an akai pmc-4000 but want to know what programs are good for remixing and producing. Thanks to all.

Cubase, Fruity Loops, Reason, Sonar 3, Project 5, Logic Pro 6, etc.

with programs like these can u do things like take out all the music and have only the vocals left to work with. There are a lot of old song that i want to use just the vocals from and make my own beats for the song, can this be done. Are these programs hard to learn?

there is no such a thing taking the music out and staying with the vocals.
to get the vocals without the music, you need an acapella version of this song, and usually to get this, you need to contact the artist\label of the song and speak with him about it.

all the music programs are good for remixing and for creating original tracks, there is no differet.

i dont know what is it the "akai pmc-4000" that you ordered, but i dont think that you need an hardware at such an early point.

and just for information, almost 80-90% of the work is in the computer, and you can easily make top-proffesional tracks without any hardware (i mean, except a good soundcard or monitors)

BTW, this is not the place to talk about this.
you got here an excellent forum calledProduction Studio , and you can ask there whatever you want about this

They get the a capellas from the license holder.

To make an analogy about removing vocals from a track...it's much the same as removing the eggs from a cake.
