WTF... Not another hip hop station in LA... K-Day is back!!!! 93.5 FM

Posted by Miss Julia on Oct-10-2004 20:50:

Ughhh we don't need yet another hip hop station. How LAME!!!!!

Posted by bas on Oct-11-2004 02:05:

Be Cool!

Last night at a gas station i met some lady whose son-in-law is the vice president of Clear Channel. so i said "oh so he's who i have to blame for not having any dance on the radio waves". and she looked at me like i was crazy. whatever that guy's an ass

You know the whole irony of the fact that 103.1 changed from Dance to Indie or whatever it is...

After the change over they have less listeners!!! Dance was beating Indie. What freaking morons clear channel is. Man I hate that company. At Least San Fransisco got there dance channel back.

Maybe Power'll switch to EDM.

"Goouuud Mornin to everyone ere' this is Big Boy on Power 106, chillin wit ma main man Armin Van Burren"

That would be insane.

You want to know something really weird I just realized. Well maybe everyone else did and I missed it but the Armin Van Buuren show on the 31st is Sponsored by Indie Radio 103.1fm
WTF is up with that?

Posted by Emil on Oct-11-2004 06:38:

I barely listen to the radio anymore. Do any of you guys have satellite radio, XM or Sirius? If so, how are the dance/trance/electronic music selections they have?

Posted by bas on Oct-11-2004 06:48:

Be Cool!

i believe that one of the dance music stations on one of those 2 actually won an award. wish i could remember if it was XM or Sirius sorry...but they're supposed to be good

its sponserd by element radio 103.1fm. element radio is on the weekends late night. they had a live set from gtr about a week ago.

I try to tune in every Saturday night to KROQ's 106.7 after hours 3 hour program. They have a wide variety of dance/house/melodic/DnB/trance on that show every weekend and sometimes it's fucking good. This past weekend, they had Gabriel & Dresden, Hybrid, and Sasha on sets.

P.S. - nrgtrance39, I sent you another PM about 11/05.

Posted by bas on Oct-11-2004 18:18:

woah sasha was on afterhours? damn i just started clubbing so i've missed afterhours every night this month

Clearchannel thinks you do.

Yes, the state of radio is just plain PATHETIC. Honestly I haven't listened to radio on a regular basis in years (come to think of it... it probably coincided when CrapChannel was eating up every radio station in sight. Coincidence? I think not!)

Anyway... KCRW sometimes has good stuff (Jason Bentley, etc). And strangely enough Thump Radio has been playing on K-BIG 104.3 weeknights 11pm-2am. It ain't trance, but not entirely bad stuff there. I was surprised given K-BIG's usual playlist...

Posted by DjWoody on Oct-11-2004 19:44:

Thump Radio had one of the best floats IMO at Love Parade. And the countless topless woman on that float was Amazing!!!!! The music being played was nothing compared to their show. It was really really good!!!! I like Thump Radio. BTW, KIIS FM has Musica De Madrugada on Friday nights afterhoursm and Powertools is still around too!

KISS shut down 103.1 because they (KISS FM) were loosing listeners. Its pretty well documented in radio circles. CC doesn't know how to deal with dance music so they just buy them and shut them down. Its not the first time its happened. Same thing happened to Mars. CC needs to be shut down. FM radio is such a scummy business, its really no suprise.

BTW, I had XM for a year and I thought the dance channels sucked big time. I cancelled several months ago. I don't know if its been improved but I doubt it. With every lineup change, XM is going more and more mainstream (read CC).

Mp3 CD player in car > Radio.

Thats the bottom line.

Posted by nrgtrance39 on Oct-12-2004 23:51:

honestly it is more easier to just own a mp3 player and call it a day.

LOL silence > radio... so true. I'd rather listen to the roar of my engine than radio nowadays.

Posted by nrgtrance39 on Oct-13-2004 00:26:

yeah but ipod is a grip i might as well put a computer in my car

Posted by bas on Oct-13-2004 02:41:
