youve cut that up horribly, why didnt you just leave it as a full intro?????
in what way do you "edit" your tracks exactly?

Posted by Max Thomson on Oct-12-2004 18:51:

I use sound forge 7 to edit tracks.

1. Viton & Stel - Wooden Swordz (Dousk & Jose Zamora Remix) (Intro Edit) [CDR]

You are of course entitled to your opinion, but I wanted a version of Wooden Swordz that got into the meat of the song a bit faster, hence the intro edit.

6. Braden Daniels & Joshua Collins - Deep Soul (Grayarea's Shallow Remix) (Max Thomson's 'Almost Famous' Edit) [CDR]

Remastered and rearranged the track and dropped in some clips from 'Almost Famous'

7. Inner System - Soul Trade (Max Thomson Dub) [CDR]

Took out the vocals, rearranged the buildup and smacked some echo on the break.

8. Led Zepplin vs. Schiller - Babe I'm Gonna Leave Ruhe (Phil K & Nubreed vs. Humate Remix) [CDR]

Pretty simple mashup, I did this live.

9.Hybrid - I'm Still Awake (Grayarea Remix) (Outro Edit) [DISTINCTIVE]

Rerranged the buildup and make the track breakdown straight into the outro.

I'm definitely feeling this mix - nice work. Love the fact that you did some edits (even though I am not familiar enough with any of these songs to actually know what you did to them).

Anyway good job - I'll check out some of your other mixes. What school are you applying to that would consider your DJ mix in the application?

Also, who do you use to host your mixes/webspace?

Regards,
JM-8

I work hard to find tracks the average TA isn't up on I'm applying to American University and maybe a few others to major in Records Arts combined with Audio Production/Technology and possibly minor in computer science. This program has three aspects to it - the music production side (using hardware, software, etc), music business, and music technology (how synthesizers, computers etc work). Its a very emerging and competitive major so I hope this mix distinguishes me! Dave, check your PM

where exactly is your problem with the edit, i.e. at what point in time.

Have you heard the original cut?

listen through that and then that, it totally devoids the intro

As always, a first class mix Max. I can't wait to see you and Pat tearing it up on Lansdowne someday.

Soon dude, soon. You gotta support Localized (Thursdays/ID Upstairs Axis/18+/$5) if you want to see it happen tho!

Nice mix so far, i got through a lot of tracks so far (start of song 6 at 20:00), i guess you let them play out more at the end, i agree that it is a little hard to listen to the cut of wooden swords when you have heard it used as an intro track b4, it's just like (what's missing?). But if i hadn't of heard the track b4 it would have been fine. unique tracklist i only knew 1 and 3

This led zeplin track is off the hook!

Posted by Az on Oct-20-2004 11:06:

any chance of grabbing that led zeppelin track?

Finally listened to this and it totally rocks my socks. Very cool track list and mixing was spot on. I thought all the edits worked well. Looking forward to your next mix.
