-- sorry... but where are the New tracks...?

Unhappy

hello

a few weeks (maybe months) ago i just loved this site because there were so many new songs about every week and they were quite good too...
but since the new year... we got some new songs...
song i really didn't like (that's ofcourse my opinion)..
and it seems this site is becoming more and more a place to talk about trance, instead a place to get some good trancesongs from

i think that's a bit disappointing...

ADK

(this forum still rocks)

Unhappy Sorry but.............

I kinda agree with ADK, but I have to say, the forums are great. But the new songs kinda suck.
I hope that some of ou can do something about that, cause it's my favourite-Trance-site.

Arrow

Points to ponder:

1) I'm not in any MP3 groups so I don't get the new vinyl releases as they come out so I can't go and pick and choose the stuff I think might be good and then listen to verify that it IS good

2) All of the stuff on my Request list is tracks that are worthy of posting, except, nobody ever sends them

3) A lot of people upload mixes/mp3s/etc to me but 90% of it either sucks bad or I have it already or it's so extremely popular that I don't think I need to post it since it's readily accessible elsewhere (i.e. napster)

4) Based on #3 - It takes time to listen to everything and decide if it's worthy of being posted.. Quality before quantity.. You know something is a 'HIT' by just reading my description.. you can tell if it's great or is just 'O.K.'

5) Yes this site is about the new tracks but there's also more to it than that and I'm working on that stuff as well and EVERYTHING takes time - so that'll be ready in a few months

6) I work full time and any free time I have 90% of it is spent working on stuff that's site related - find another mp3 webmaster that gets 20+ emails a day and answers most of them the same day.

And to finish think of it this way:

If you had access to an FTP site that was up 24/7 and you had LEECH access and could log in whenever you wanted and download as much as you wanted without ever giving anything back -- would you email the siteop asking when they're gonna put up more stuff?

I didn't think so...

i think this forum alone makes this site stand out amongst all the other sites.

Posted by biznology on Jan-26-2001 04:40:

yep

Those comments sound like they are soming from peeps who have never made a website before. There is a ton of shitty work involved and with the improvements Swamper has made, I am not surprised that the mp3s have suffered. This site is light years beyond any other music site I have seen out there, well specific genre music site anyways. I think we can give Swamper all the time in the world to get everything working smooth again. Peace.

i haven't even been to a site that compares to this one

until my friend told me about this site, i couldn't find shit that i liked. this site has been a blessing to me! i'm new here and all, but so far i'm beyond impressed. ya'll gotta understand he's got a life outside of providing ya'll w/ mp3s. ya'll should be thankfull for what he has given ya'll. i'm finally getting a collection that is worth a shit b/c of this site. thanks for makin' this a badass site, much appreciated!

Posted by Don on Jan-26-2001 19:20:

I usually come to this site to find out what's going on in the trance world, check for any new live sets and look for cue lists...The forms are good, lots of variety...

I think what would make this site awsome is to post the full versions of the tunes that are used in the live sets that are posted on this site...Everyone can easily contribute to the section, and swamper can list who upped it giving credit where credit is due...

Posted by djelloun on Jan-26-2001 19:31:

right Swamper !!

Cool Man, you understand whats up in real Life !! I also prefer a good site than a cheesy Site where you got tons of new MP3's and maybe 90 Percent are shit (in my opinion) !! I mean that quality counts more than Qiantity..that is the right word I think...OVER !! Cheers DJelloun

P.S. By the way: Swamper, I recorded a very good Classic Mix from DJ ELB (cool German DJ, former Resident at the Dorian Gray in Frankfort). Yes they get a lot of tracks but, just the same, it's a quality assurance issue.. Most of the tracks just get posted because they have a big name behind them... even if the tune absolutely SUCKS they post 5 mixes of it..

King

ok nows my part ... as most of you know im kinda Swamper's little helper (hang on that sounds gay) I have access to absolutely fucking loads of new shit before any of you cause im in BMI itself as a ripper - I fxp'd about 25 songs for Swamper and he put up about 3 of them and I think plenty of them are worth of being on the site - so me and Swamper differ in tastes a bit - Im just about to chat with him now about possibly having my own section of my fave tracks out at the moment and Swamper having his own fave tunes section too....so you have a wider range of choices - but Its not definite yet - sounds a good idea to me though.... I think my taste suits quite a lot of you on this site cause a lot of you have shitloads of my mp3 releases in the scene from when I was in BPM,TCLUB and POW (and most recently BMI). Swamper and myself have a lot of ideas in the pipeline that will occur when we both have the time to do so... he is busy with work and shit (god I wish I was busy with work lol) and I cant supply fuck all at the moment (lame arse 56K modem!) so expect the site to have some extra features soon that'll make this site kick every other site out there to smitherines.

Regards

Simmy

P.S. Win Access To My FTP if you can guess what the little guy is saying below this message :P

Ok I so dun understand this thing... This forum is made up of many peeps who all listen to trance and have knowledge on whats good etc... We can help eachother peepz, why does Swamper have to make the site, maintain, moderate the forums and find music... I think that the forums should be a place where we find out about new tracks, so make recomendations, review songs, discuss them.. there's a new tracks section isn't there... ofcourse Swamper posts stuff that we won't know about and it's wicked but I think its the lazy way out if you expect him to plate all the tracks for u... Sorry if this doesn't make sense or if u dun agree but that's my opinion...

latez...

Posted by occrider on Jan-26-2001 22:00:

sigh ...

Ever heard the expression "don't look the gift horse in the mouth"? Be glad that Swamper is doing this and doing this for free. Besides, the awesomest part about this site is the forums. Learn about new music there and just go to napster to find shit.

Posted by occrider on Jan-26-2001 22:03:

Oops ... more or less said the same thing as furee. Dammit she beat me to the post hehe.

I am from the United States of America (and we're really behind here) I think that this post is wonderful for europian music imports and the forums have very intelligent people posting. I've learned about 90% of what I know from this site over the past 6 months. I think that its alright that the new music updates havent been updated for a while, because there are people posting on this board what they like that is new. I think that fellow Trance Addicts' opinions are better than some of the things swamper posts (no offense to Swamper i've got 100% respect for his taste). The only songs i've really fallen in love with that I hadnt heard before was Minimalistix, Q-stix and some new Armin van Burren stuff. This is a wonderful website and check the forums whenever you can, people post new music all thei time. Just download the songs they post off of napser! - Cheers mates,

I have noticed that the MP3s haven't been as good as they were like around November. But I can't complain, this is a great site and I get lots of songs just by reading the forum. Keep up the good work Swamper.

Exclamation

ok i know i havnt been here long but i've been on and around napster since before it was anywhere near public.
heres a few pointers

1: how the fugg can yeh moan if somthings free?
2: swamper dedicates his ftp to everyone here for fun, his he mad? no he just enjoys it.
3: anything that can be downloaded is available on the net. and how many people here have said " i found a really good track on a ftp heres the addy"?
4: on napster you'd be classed as a LEECH if you did this there i.e taking for free and never sharing.
5: swamper is due respect from people who come for fun or come cos they wanna, rember your not having to do nothing swamper is.

Heh wow thanks for da support peeps..

Ya got to understand that I haven't had much come my way that makes me go "HOLY SHIT I HAVE TO POST THIS!".. Usually it's more along the lines of "Why is preventing me from deleting this track?"

Let's say I get 30 tracks...
I might keep 6 of them
and odds are maybe 1 of those 6 are worthy of posting...

Lately I've been looking on napster for some of my requests just to see if I can find em cuz I know the trance ones are worthy of being posted..

There's also a 'New Releases' forum... if a tune is awesome then let us know and post info about it and I'll look out for it as will others...

For a non DJ I try my best

anyways better finish this off, gotta get ready to go party

... I might be setting myself up here but anyways, I'm on Napster 24/7 pretty much...so.. leech me to death there too.
