That's the craziest Halloween contest I've ever seen ... even back in the days when Freakin' had 19,000+, their contest only got $500.00

unkle is not a dude it's the duo of James Lavelle & Richard File.
style? think pouring hip-hop and rock through a sieve of experimentalism and breakbeat or simply experimental/rock influenced trip hop.

James lavelle on the other hand spins more funky breaks/trip hop.

as far as i know they're on their "never never, land tour:

"UNKLE Finally Tour The States
James Lavelle and Richard File bring their emotionally charged electronic music to North America.
October 18, 2004 - The duo of James Lavelle and Richard File, better known the world over as UNKLE, will finally release their incredible album Never Never, Land domestically on October 26th on the Global Underground imprint. Not only that, but the two musical masterminds will be touring the States and bits of North America in support of the album.

The album, which was released almost a year ago in Europe on Island Records, is an emotionally textured swath of electronic and ambient tone poems that resonate with a genuine sense of space and complexity."

not "typical" typd of DJs at all

hmmmm....not sure if that will be my style....i could see myself spending most of the nite in the drink if i go

Posted by The Highroller on Oct-26-2004 20:44:

What's going on in the Drink? I got a flyer from my school saying some York & U of T party is going on in "the Guvernment". I heard that it was in The Drink.

Also, will we be allowed access to The Drink from the Guv main room?

How much does it cost to get into The Drink? And you need to be on guestlist to get in? Am I reading this right?

Posted by djbruuen on Oct-27-2004 04:05:

nothing special is happening in the drink...just a kick ass house set as usual by manzone and strong!!!...but yeh...for the exact same cover as guvernment...you get to go through the drink, tanja, goldclub lounge...and (skybar and charlies...but they'll prolly be closed) so i figure...for the same price...might as well get the other rooms right??? you just have to be on the guestlist...drop the guv and email and say you want to be on the guestlist for the drink entrance. and on a normal night you have to dress nice (by dress nice...it means have style, not like a palazzo dress code where you look like its your prom all gino'd up). but since it halloween...if you're in a costume, prolly wouldn't make a difference.

on a normal sat night, if one goes through the drink can you still wear running shoes?

Posted by BADCEKTOP on Oct-28-2004 18:46:

If you are a rocker turned raver, you'll love this gig. This is definitely a unique sound. Lavelle is too rockish for me though.

well you can't look like trash...it is a more upscale look so you could say...but you don't have to be wearing black shiny dresh shoes and dress pants of any junk like that...they let me in b4 wearing a nice t-shirt from buffalo, some nice dark blue jeans...and just those deisel shoes. so you can still be completely comfortable, you just can't wear whatever you feel like at the main door...like those ravers who wear baggy cargos, vans shoes, etc.

anyone know what the set times are gonna be like for this event and how long they will be spinning for, hopefully not too long. guv just doesnt suit their style, i wonder who was smoking what when they made this booking

Posted by E2EK1EL on Oct-29-2004 22:53:

Set time will be posted tomorrow on the GUV site

Fear nothing ppl, UNKLE will put on a great show, and you also have Mark Oliver on the bill that night, so there is nothing to worry about.

You guys gotta enter that krazy contest ... $5000.00 in cash and prizes!

Posted by E2EK1EL on Oct-30-2004 00:46:

UNKLE WILL BE A LIVE PA ....

Actually, it's 1/2 & 1/2 a LIVE PA ... I didn't get it when my manager explained it to me lastnight. You really have to witness it.
