Smiley DJ George Acosta at Resort Lounge10-10-04!!!

Just got back from resort lounge in WPB and i had a great time!! i don't think there was any TA's present since there was no post about it but George really played a great set!! i suck at tracklistings but if you tuned in the lost world the first hour was previously recorded and it was truly great!!! one of the songs had a little girl saying something like "through the shadows there's an angel watching"....his last track of the night was Dido-Sand in my shoes, i was standing right in front of him when he put the vinyl on and the cover was right in front of me so i picked it up and looked at it. I was in the VIP section and at resort there's nothing between you and the main DJ so i had a short conversation with him after his set. He said it was great working with jon secada and they have a new song coming out in january. he said next saturday he'll be at Moscow and i asked him about the bi-weekly thing and he said that Moscow said he was doing it but he wasn't sure. Anyways i know a lot of you are George Acosta haters but i had a blast and meeting him after was even better. He gave me a CD of the Lost World copy that was on 93.1 tonight i was pretty excited. Alright i have class tommorow so talk to you guys later!

I'm no fan of Acosta, but I'm always curious about new venues/clubs. Where in WPB was this? What kinda vibe?

Invisible Grin

I stopped by there before going into work Monday morning... I still needed to sleep more from Picotto on Friday, but whatever. Resort is right on the southside of City Place in WPB, and it's honestly pretty nice. I'll tell you what, Acosta might not bring you guys out, but I am very impressed with Moscow and Resort as clubs. Resort has an escalator bring you up to the club, and the vibe was good... better than on Clematis st. George dropped In Silence, so I was happy ... he dropped Holding on to Nothing.. I stayed for an 1 1/2, and was jamming trance in my head all morning at work, it was straight.
MT04, honestly... Acosta doesn't spin the same style of trance, he tends to throw decent melodic and tech-trance together with hard, dark trance... and his sets don't usually make sense.. His music is generally good, but he does leave you hanging sometimes. The weird vocals during the breakdowns don't work usually, so that is just some of his bad taste in vinyl. I give Acosta respect, he's a major influence in my music appreciation, but he is not Ferry Corsten, or Picotto, or Verwest, yada-yada. They make you go Co-Ray-Zee at a different level than George does, and their sets leave lasting impressions on your mind. Here's some perspective: Acosta spun at Club Resort, in WPB this weekend. Edgar V. spins down the street at Release in WPB, but he opened and closed at the 34 for Picotto last Friday... that's the difference.
