little bit of *******ing about the Guv

How come do I have to show up at 10:30pm at the Guv to save up 5$?!?!

If I knew it would be 5$ (even 10$), I would come back at 1am if not after.

So my real complaint is that no one really knew the price at the door. I was told I would pay 30$ with the "guest list" instead of 50$++, I don't think its normal for a club the size of the Guvernement.

and I won't say anything about not having a media access thing, bringing in a huge ass camera and be told not get on stage, wtf you think i brought this camera for?

You were here this weekend? If you were, you shoulda come to the Docks... We would have had a REAL Cream reunion!!!

Posted by Sly_Guy on Oct-12-2004 17:00:

Seriously Malek, the Docks was the place to be.

Posted by Jayx1 on Oct-12-2004 17:05:

cover for both parties were cheap. Considering the prices for these events anywhere else on the planet, be happy that you paid as little as you did.

Posted by malek on Oct-12-2004 17:15:

you obviously didn't understand my post...

i am not bitching about the pricing.

I am bitching about the lack of information about it.

No one knew the price at the door beforehand, I could've catched some ZZZz before heading there early to save big bux (5$)

Tenaglia? no thanks

Posted by jdat on Oct-12-2004 17:15:

Man any headliner in Cleveland we pay minimum 25 USD ... so 15 CAD for world class acts is really really amazing

Posted by Jayx1 on Oct-12-2004 17:18:

yeah and THATS cleveland for 1 guest!

Imagine NYC or LA or Tokyo, London or just about any other big city?

Now add multiple guests

Toronto has got it good in the pricing dept thats for sure.

geez...

Posted by StereoPrincess on Oct-12-2004 17:37:

don't worry malek, i understand your frustration.

this has happened to me many many times. not so much lately because i seem to go there once everything is in order and everyone knows what's going on.

at the sasha party tho we got this cool ticket thing that was supposed to be a suvenir just to get it taken away at the door. why even bother with that then?

I hear ya...usually I don't even bother with guestlist @ Guvt because they're SO disorganized. More often than it's been smooth, I've had to argue to have them honour it or been refused outright. They like to change the times, prices, etc. at their whim, it seems...

11:45pm at KH earlier this year dealing with a *crusty* bitch:

"$30"
"isn't guestlist $20"
"I said it's $30!"
"I thought guestlist was good before midnight"
"guestlist is closed and I'm not arguing with another person about it, $30 or get out of the line!"
"that's great, thanks"

Posted by malek on Oct-12-2004 18:00:

hehehe...

cover is usually more expensive in montreal, the price wasn't really an issue.

man i fucking hate people who work at bars.. so cranky and they have such big heads. I always want to just slap them and scream "you make minimum wage at a bar, you are nothing special, its just a bar, nobody wants to be in your position....." With the exception of the bouncers I find women the worst too. God i just want to kick them.

haha sorry... little venting.

Posted by malek on Oct-12-2004 18:10:

how about this one,

I came with two french people (from France), they didn't have enough cash to cover their tickets. So they wanted to withdraw from the atm inside.

Their european cards weren't accepted with that stupid ass ATM, so they had to go to a bank. I go talk with a bouncer if they could go to a nearby bank and come back without doing the line again because the ATM isn't accepting their card.

So this guy gives me the worst attitude saying yes it works bla bla and I start arguing with the guy Finally he snaps and tell me only one of them can go to the bank not both, wow what a genius, as if one of them can give his card and his PIN to the other... geez.

Like wtf, why are you so rude? I am a client and came to spend my (our) cash to this entertainment buisness to get, guess what, get entertained and have a good time.

Its like they're doing me a favor letting me in.

I didn't see ONE polite bouncer there, and forget about a smile or anything. Who pushes the more? The bouncers.

Posted by Jayx1 on Oct-12-2004 18:10:

Go anywhere else and youd have to be famous or the owner's relative to get on any sort of guest list.

VIP everywhere else means you pay MORE not less.

Toronto = club spoiled capital of the world.

thats unacceptable....

Bouncers should always treat customers as customers unless there is good reason to be rude.

not true, I haven't been to 935054 cities. But in Montreal everyone can get on guest list at clubs, a little bit harder at afterhours. and Guest list means FREE entrance, not 5$ reduction... hehe... and if you want to have reduced at afterhours, its really easy, no hassle there.

Somewhat correct.

Posted by MarkT on Oct-12-2004 18:19:

there have been some good ones at Guv...I made it to the front of a mammoth line at KH and inadvertently left my ID in my jacket that I left at home...

Bouncer asks for ID, I sheepishly admit that I'm an idiot and left it at home, lol...he says he needs to see it...I'm 29...he says he understands but still needs to see it. He let me rush home and just see him rather than have to line up again, which was good of him.

*thumsbup* to staff who treat partiers as CUSTOMERS not annoyances!
*thumbsup* to partiers who understand that the staff have to deal with a lot of f***ed up people and to be reasonable with them.

that's what pisses me off the most. and its a club anyone can get into. its not like its beverly hills, its not like stonecutters, some secret society nobody can see. They should be ashamed they couldnt find a better job in life than a bouncer at a club, not proud. There is nothing to be proud of in being a bouncer.

That should the norm not the exception. And i have seen far more people get fucked up by bouncers than the other way around.

Posted by malek on Oct-12-2004 18:27:

it wasn't all bad too.

There was a great barman, who took care of my camera bag.

I never had any troubles with barmen and barmaids, they're generally very cool.

Posted by jdat on Oct-12-2004 18:38:

Well if we're discussing about the whole VIP situation .... I can certainly mention a number of things.
I feel like I shouldn't complain because I got it for free but still the place really had no clue what was going on.

I was told I'm supposed to go through the Deluxe lounge with my ticket .... I go there ( club wasn't opened yet so really no line )and the girl tells me " aren't you in the wrong line ? "
I pull out my VIP pass and then she tells me "well aren't you a little underdressed there you can't get in ?" "it'll depend on what the bouncer says"... ( dress code ? wtf )

I come back later when the club was somewhat opening up .. first Deluxe was guestlist only to get in vip pass or not; and they didn't open till 12 30 ? so wtf

I go to the special line for guv and the girl there argues with me because my name wasn't on the list and that she had no clue what my pass was .... so after going back and forth between Deluxe and guv's special entrance finally let's me inside .... ( after being bitched at numerous times by one of the bouncers in that line ) ... so I'm nearly inside and I give my ticket to the guy who takes them and I'm like where am I supposed to get the vip pass ? " What vip?"
Well it's marked on the pass that you get vip with this ... so I go outside to check with someone and they say "what vip there is no vip!? " ( same bouncer yelling at me again )

So was there really vip or not ?

With these guys being so edgy at the beginning of the night I can't imagine what it must be like after they've been working the door for a couple hours damn bastards!

I saw some bouncers fighting inside the smoking area at one point ( well ... yelling at each other )

And when I was leaving the same bouncer yelling at me at the beginning of the night kept screaming at the exit " everyone get the f*** outta here " I quietly replied go f*** yourself s o b ; discretly just in case the guy would have wanted to crack my skull or something ..... mind you it was 6 am or so and only 5 people were leaving so WTF!

I've been clubbing in NYC many times and I thought the security over there was rude well I learned a new view of rude with Guv bouncers!

Really left a sour taste in my mouth.
I'm amazed I actually made it inside

They were col but boy were the drinks weak!

I got a 9 dollar vodka redbull.... the amount of vodka was so small it seriously looked like it was a bit of ice water!

call it a redbull on the rocks with a splash of vodka
