That damn cool.exe .. it got smarter now.

anyone getting those various cool.exe hits. i can delete them easily before, and it wasn't as nerve racking. all it did was lock my task manager.

now, what it does is lock the task managaer, and freeze your computer when you try to open any documents (.txt, .jpg, .html, .doc, etc ...)

has anyone gotten this problem before? it's easy to take out, but it is nerve racking to restart your computer, and then restart your internet connection (especially for dial-up people like me!.. hahahha).. but what is worst is that i have to restart my downloading progress ...

that damn virus hole!.. has anyone found a .dll that is automatically loaded onto your computer that keeps you to continually get the cool.exe file?

lemme get this straight, u WANT this .exe (which obviuosly sounds like spyware) on ur pc??

Posted by itsTrueSonic on Oct-13-2004 16:31:

no. i do know that it takes your ip address, opens port 10051 and logs in as "h" ..

i was wondering if there was a file currently existing on my system that is telling the spyware to load cool.exe into my computer...

so i can kill it.
ahaahahaha

type NETSTAT in a dos window .. you can see what ports are open and connected.

Not sure if that works with win98 but for sure NT4 and up

yeah that works ..
netstat.

oh well. i guess they randomly choose your ip address, or they have a database of host domains .. like BellSouth, Msn, etc ... which is very easy to track, especially if you have the first two numbers of an ip address .. just hand pick 255*255 numbers randomly and you got a computer that is part of the company.

Um, I just tried that for the hell of it, and I noticed that I have over 300 ports open, is this normal?
Some say tiscali.fr, wanadoo.fr, somethinglong.jp and many more...

that is not good. unless you are using many third parties to make an internet connection, like for high speed, not good. also unless if you have many internet explorer windows open also.
