Announcing your own birthday...
I don't know why but I have a serious problem with people that parade around and announce their own birthday on said day expecting good tidings from the listener. I just think that this is generally rude.
Instead, hinting as to the fact that it's your birthday is fine in my book. Sort of like "I'm going out to eat with my parents tonight" and then the other person would ask whether it's a special occassion or not (or just totally brush you off) and THEN it's fine to say it's your birthday.
Unfortunately, I have a handful of friends that pull that stupid sh*t and it justs pisses the h*ll out of me.
Anyways, what are your views on this kind of activity, in general?
eh... doesnt really bother me. as long as the person doing it isnt being really cocky or stupid about it...
Just say it and don't make a story about it. With the generalities and what not. Sad in a way.
Agreed, I think. Just get to the facts, tell me its your birthday, and Ill wish you a good one, because eveyone's birthday should be a fun day of celebration. If youre telling me just to get a gift from me though, fuck off
I know my friend's birthdays...
(and if youve forgotten mine, dont expect me to remember yours
)
My birthday happened a bit ago, i forgot though, as did the majority of my family.

i agree with the thread starter. maybe because i don't really place a lot of emphasis on my own b-day, but i most of the time people that start flaunting b-day this b-day that i seem to care less about their occassion.
i dont like it when people start threads about themselves, seeking attention in return, what ever it may be about. obvioiusly, take it on a case by case basis, as there are some exceptions..
happy birthday

October 22nd boys and girls. Remember it; all presents welcome.
yea i agree its pretty sad.. attention whores.
if they are ur friends shouldnt you know when their bday is (or is coming up?) nahh!! only Girlfriends... (bad experience)
i have nothing against people saying their birthday is in 7 days or something like that. as long as they are cocky about it. (birth day countdowns are for people >10...
