Yahoo has 100MB...

Hotmail said they were gonna upgrade everyone free soon...but mine still says 2MB.

2MB here as well

and, yes, i'm pretty sure it has something to do with gmail. if not gmail, then at least yahoo; competition.

Yeah, G-Mail's 1 Gig limit really blew Hotmail's shitty 2Mb out of the water. Just as well Microsoft have enough money to throw at something like this...

yea thats basically all it is, they're doing it to attempt to compete with g-mail. they claim they were intending to do this all along, but nowhere near this size, in order to get 250+mb you'd have to pay for the hotmail service..which is bullshit.

yet again more proof that microsoft is a piece of shit.

I guess somebody paid it for you. My both accounts are still 2.

Posted by d0uble h3lix on Oct-15-2004 07:23:

think it could have anything to do with the gmail feature of auto-forwarding incoming e-mails to a hotmail.com account? not very likely but then again microsoft's done some fucked up, shady things in the past.

heh... gmail owns hotmail. i'm done with hotmail, and the only reason i keep my accounts still open is because i still may get emails from people / companies that i havent updated my new gmail with.

though, i do sign into my MSN messenger to chat, but the hotmail part is closed on this sign in.

I'll give out Gmail invites if you want them. 6 of them, just to show how much better it is.

Just got upgraded to 250mb yesterday too... I think if you pay for hotmail, you get a lot more like 2GB or something. I didnt' pay but I have had 2mb for the longest time. Good to see 250mb now and a bigger attachment size capacity!

Posted by Arbiter on Oct-16-2004 16:57:

Yes, they're upgrading all active hotmail accounts. It's probably a response to gmail. Frankly I don't care for either service, they are both for intarweb n00bs.

I have both an MSN account and a Hotmail account. The MSN one has been at 25MB for quite some time. The Hotmail account is still at 2MB. I do have a message saying they are getting ready to increase the size of the MSN account to 250MB.

I use the MSN account because it is my sign on name for MSN Messenger and people tend to send me emails. I never use the Hotmail account. I use a Yahoo account and a Gmail account quite a bit. The email address that I use the most is the one associated with my internet provider. Not too many people have that address.

MS is upgrading all hotmail accounts to 250, but MS is doing it based on seniority, i.e. the older hotmail users get it first. The prevaling theory is that MS didn't expect soo many people to actualy use the space so MS had to go out and buy alot more storage devices. Also last I heard MS is taking away the Http mail client server thing, so you can't use outlook anymore.
