all the time...

Posted by DigDeep on Oct-15-2004 14:15:

Too many things in a day for me to accomplish to actually waste time thinking about that. Sure its crossed my mind after a fat doobie or even a couple mushroom trips back in my highschool days....but once i started my post secondary years, not once.

heres a question thats constantly on my mind.

why do we exist if all we do is study and work our asses off all our life and jsut wither into life after death???why cant we skip the human stage and just exist in that state of non existence?

thats what i'd also like to know, but the shit thing is that we wont get any answers, we have to live our lives the way society wants us to and eventually die.

looking at the americans that were beheaded in iraq one begins to wonder why those guys were even born? did they spend their whole lives trying to acheive something only to die like that? whats the purpose of that?

LKD brought up an excellent point. This is something i've been fully conscious of for the last several years. That is to say, this is something i've been trying to consciously AVOID for the last several years. Hippies had the right idea but they went the wrong way while implementing it. Instead of living life to the fullest outside of society's boundaries they ended up being drugged-out bums. However, there ARE ways to have the best of both worlds. They require a lot of ambition and courage to even consider, and then years of hard work to carry out. But they're out there. It's possible. So no, we do NOT have to live our lives the way society wants us to. That's a recipe for disaster. A wise man once said that we should try to figure out what direction everyone is going in and then go the other way. I couldn't agree more. It's riskier, but you're just not gonna get anywhere in life if you do the same things everyone else is doing. There are simply too many people who are after pieces of that one big pie. It's better to have a larger piece of a smaller pie, than a tiny crumb from the larger pie. Anyway, it's good to see an intelligent discussion on this board! I'll check back here later to see what you guys make of all this.

Hence concentrated on my bloody job of giving head to asian girls and old ladies and now i'm sooo addicted to it, don't have the time to deal with those issues anymore

Morale of the story: Everyone's good at their job!

All those questions are nothing but a huge mind fuck! So no I try not to have those moments. Reminds me of the way my ex boyfriend thinks. Honestly, who gives a shit. Live your life and do what makes you happy. If faith makes you a good person than keep believing. If travelling makes you happy, save cash and do it. If partying makes you happy......then don't ever stop dancing!

tahts just closing ur mind to reality in teh background....

nah that was well put, i mean for real why see the world with blinds on our eyes, if you see something you dont like then shut the blinds, therefore you see only what you want to see. thats not good at all

Got this from a novel.

quote:

Life doesn't mean anything. It is what it is. One day you're alive. One day you're dead. One day you're a loser. One day you're king of the fucking world. No reason. It doesn't mean anything. It just is.

Everybody spends their whole lives pretending that shit isn't random. We trace connections between events, and we invest those connections with meaning. That's why we all make stories out of our lives. That's what stories are: ways of pretending that things happen for a reason.

The universe is a structure of coincidence. It means whatever you decide it means. Which is another way of saying: What your life means depends on how you tell the story.

the way i see it fate, imo, is the fork in the road before every turn u take-"should i"/"should i not" and destiny is the predetermined choice we make at each fork.

yes we have what is known as free will but its written in our destiny what choices we will make. there is no alternate sequence of events that could've/should've occured in our lives...this is how it was supposed to happen

we make mistakes and wonder "what if i did that instead, would i still be in this situation??"- well you wouldnt pick option 2 cos thats not whats written down...option 2 was tehre only to show u what ur inborn traits lack which made u pick option 1

Why do hot dogs come in packs of 8 and hot dog buns come in packs of 12?

Haha... I can be intensely philosophical if I choose to be but I realized a long time ago that questions like these are not worth dwelling on.

These things are mental constructs - they're like trick questions - they presume things that simply don't exist. Mainly, these questions, and especially religious questions, stem from some desperate and silly need to believe that the universe is deterministic and not random. That if you REALLY think about it, you can find a REASON for everything. I guess it's like a coping mechanism for people who have shitty lives, they need to think that all these bad things have a purpose and are leading up to something good, or if not something visibly good then something intangibly good (like building "character" and thus making them better than other people).

Those questions serve no purpose other than to give you a "mind fuck" because they simply can never be answered. You can answer any of them however you like and your answer would be right, because there isn't any way to prove it wrong (unless your answer is a complete dumb-fuck answer like "we exist only to see the Maple Leafs win the Stanley Cup", which we all know is never gonna happen).

Accept that life and the universe are random and stick to questions you can answer, like "what's for lunch."
