What other genres do you love?
Hey ya'll. I understand everyone in here is extremly addicted to trance, but for me sometimes I need to zone out of it because there are other genres I like.
I really like a lot of hard rock and stuff like Linkin Park, Deftones, Tool, etc. I know it's the exact opposite of trance, but it helps me let all my youthful rage out.
I also like some Jazz and stuff because it relaxes me, but if I look more into relaxation I just turn to Enigma who is a genius in my opinion. He can mellow me out in no time.
What other genres are you into? You can't just be stuck on trance all the time! Or can you? Post what you like here! I wanna see what you guys are into!
-Sunburn
I like leftfield sounding stuff, and songs like joyenergizer. And a bunch of cheezy electronic stuff lots of the addicts don't really like to call trance.
I listen to a lot of "alternative", industrial, 80's. That's stuff that's I grew up on before I even knew what electronic music was.
TOOL rocks......they are awesome.....i saw them in Hartford, CT and also at MSG NY. Incredible show
I used to like rap before I started listening to trance. I don't listen to it that much anymore but DMX & the Ruff Ryders are still pretty good. I'm starting to like chillout and ambient stuff too.
My first love will always be Trance, but I dig Progressive sounds more these days...Deep house and Breaks is also very kewl. I'm starting to enjoy some ambient and chillout too...very easy to study or sleep with that stuff playing in the background
Other than mainstream trance and Progressive, I enjoy...
- Goa/Psy Trance (particularly at parties)
- Freeform/Trancecore (particularly while driving in my car)
- Nuskool/Funky Breaks (especially while chilling at home)
- (Acid) Techno (particularly at parties)
- Funky/Disco House (particularly at parties)
- Jungle/DnB (especially dancing to it, altho I'm pretty picky about the DnB that I like. There's A LOT of shitty DnB out there.)
- Oldskool (Happy) Hardcore that use fast DnB style breakbeats
- some Hard House / NU NRG (altho honestly I rarely ever listen to it)
- Swing music
- Ska
- Rock
- Classical music
as you can see my tastes are fairly diversified and I'm pretty open minded when it comes to most music.
Some styles I don't particularly enjoy include Hip Hop, Rap, Heavy Metal and Country... Then there are other styles I just haven't heard enuff of to form an opinion on yet.
Sal
Well i most say i like very different styles, but there mostly all related to some technical music.
Well im still a fan of synthesizer music like Vangelis and many others, it can so relax me. Further i love ambiant and chill-out!! Also relaxing. Also i Listen in some aggressive moods to Hardcore. Yeah yeah i know hardcore died well its not its still alive only not commercial anymore (And im glad of that).
Well further I sometimes listen to Rap & R&B. I Like some Stuff of R. Kelly. And also DMX will do some good job. And well D12 is also one of my favorits.
Well Lets Put it in a List:
- Hardhouse
- Techno
- Ambiant
- Chill-out
- Synthesizer
- Dance
- R&B
- Rap
- Club
- Hardcore
Rock
Ha! I didn't think anybody in here besides me would like Tool and other hard rock bands. That's awesome!! I'm not alone.
Techno/Minimal/Detroit
Acid Techno
Goa
REGGAE!!
punane...
haha
hey sunburn i like some hard rock too. linkin park is really the only rap metal band i like. i also like some positive rap like js, black sheep and mystic(not dj mystik!) ive also been listening to my operation ivy cd a again recently
just anything with a good beat in my case
could include
hip hip, house, chessy stuff that isnt recommended here
some metal maybe pop
anything that comes to my liking really
Pop
Yeah, Pop's the one thing I hate in the music industry.
DIRTY POP

Me If I'm not listening to trance I'll listen to either of these genres
Progressive House
Techno
Gabba Techno
Old Skool - No shitty Happy Hardcore that sounds like fair music
I like the old tunes.
Drum and Bass
Breakbeat
Some Hip Hop
Let's see...
- Max Graham and Oliver Lieb stuff (some say that's progressive but everyone seems to have his own definition of prog
)
- German Hip Hop like Fanta 4 or Eins Zwo
- Enigma / Era / celtic type and meditative music
- "Romantic" stuff like Celine Dion
- Most music produced by William Orbit
- Rarely some Marilyn Manson & Co
Wow, what a spectrum
not to forget RnB or NSync style music
ok I'm kidding
Hehe, first post! Hope you won't slap me right away
One more TA!
EuroDance!
And when I say "Euro," I mean "Russian."

furee> reggae rulz.
..theres alot of good reggae here in panama.
But if its trance, its either uplifting, epic, hard, or progressive. I truly hate goa/jungle/psy and all that other stuff. But im fanatical about the first 4 i put up.
And besides trance, i like listening to some alternative shit, some rap, some oldie's....i like oldie's more than alterantive and rap actually, just stuff from the 70's, like deep purple, rush, iron maiden, led zeppelin, black sabath, pink floyd, etc et... Plena is pretty tight too, i doubt very highly that any of you have heard any though, its like reggae+rap in spanish. Tool is good, A perfect Circle is good, basicaly anything with maynard is good yes. Linkin park is ok, a lil ot mainstream and basic for my taste but oh well. Classical music, all types of classical music rulz. Ambient isnt to bad either, then i like alot of metal also... progressive/power/black/metal ... yap, trance & metal are very different, so most of my friends think im insane, but oh well, its my taste so nobody can argue on that. Well, that about sums it up.
At the moment I listen a lot to Kruder & Dorfmeister Drum&bass/jazz/dub), Air, Faithless, Dido, Moby & other chill-music!
I used to listen a lot to rap/hiphop, but not that much anymore, the last few years TRANCE has taken over....
ive got to a stage where the only music i can sit an listen to is electronica... its mad. other than my obvious fave trance, i eat breakbeat for my brekky, i like hard boiled house, prog house & tribal groovy stuff... techno is quite fun sometimes... specially when its twisted mutated techno mauro P style
believe it or not i enjoy some good ol' country and western, like david alan coe, jerry jeff walker, hank williams, pat green, etc. i mean i also work at a college bar so i have to play that stuff and 80's and classic rock music. i dont mind it a bit. but they refuse to let me play an techno whatsoever
i wouldn't mind listening to some jungle and a little of russian rap
I'm a tool and Nine Inch Nails fan as well!
as well as deftones, korn, linkin park and those type of bands
it seems there are a lot of metal loving trance fans.
I also like sublime too, that's the best chillin music.
Country!?!?
