Football Manager 2005 Thread
After becoming rather addicted to the last Championship Manager, its going to start all over again.
Due for release on 05/11/2004
If your planning on get this, i suggest you Pre-order it from Play , its currently only 17.99 and no doubt that price will go up.
Updated user interface
Football Managers user interface will look markedly different to anything that has come before. Navigation between screens will be easier, with each screen explaining what information is on offer and how to get to other, related information. Consistency between separate game elements will also be more noticeable than in previous football management games: operations such as player filtering and sorting will now work consistently throughout the game. The games look which now includes a two-panel option will also be easily customised, allowing managers to store their preferred views and to return quickly to them.
Refined game engine
Sports Interactives long-standing and award-winning game engine has been refined and tuned in accordance with the feedback received from fans of its previous games. For example, the new game incorporate more than 30 extra fields for player data, including the all-new new preferred moves.
Updated database and competition rules
As has always been the case with Sports Interactives management simulations, Football Manager 2005s database and competition simulation will be as up-to-date and accurate as is humanly possible.
Pre- and post-match information
Managers will be presented with enhanced information before and after each match, to show team line-ups, injuries and tactics before the match, and lots of stats about the match afterwards.
International player news
For the first time, managers will receive information on international performances, allowing them follow their players careers and ascertain how they are performing at the highest level.
Cup summary news
Events which unfold in each round of all of the major cup competitions will be delivered to the manager in a news summary.
2D clips from agents
Managers are likely to receive video clips (executed using the games acclaimed 2D match engine) of a players performances, sent to them by that players agent with view to a possible transfer.
Coach reports on squads
In addition to commenting on individual players, coaches will now offer their opinions on the squad as a whole, thus helping managers to decide which areas of their team need improvement.
Job centre for non-playing positions
Non-playing jobs will be advertised through an in-game Job Centre, improving the managers ability to hire coaches and other staff.
Mutual Contract termination
Managers will be able to offer surplus players an opportunity to agree mutual contract termination, which will reduce the cost of releasing players and trimming squads.
Enhanced player loan options
Managers can now approach other clubs to offer young players on loan, a process which will make it easier to give younger players competitive experience. Also, when players loan periods expire, the manager will have an opportunity to extend the loan (where appropriate).
Manager mind games
Managers can click on any other managers name and issue a comment to the media relating to that person. The effects of these comments will see an increase in the amount of pressure surrounding title races, relegation battles, Cup ties and so on. It will also be possible to use this feature in relation to your own players, other clubs, media pundits etc.

Just curious..
Why did it change its name???
Its about time someone created a thread for this. I have a countdown in my room for this game. European release date is 5 Nov. Playing the demo currently, this is by far the best football management game Ive ever seen.
Dont get CM5 its rubbish.
The reason its called Football Manager now is because SI Games the creators of the CM games split from Eidos who owns the name for Championship Manager. Si linked up with SEGA and now its called Football Manager 2005.
I say a TA Online Game Starting the 15-Nov???

| This evening, Miles Jacobson, MD of Sports Interactive, sent this letter to all registered members of SIgames.com "Dear Sports Interactive customer. I have some good news for you. Due to some unscrupulous retailers in Italy and Sweden who decided to start selling Football Manager 2005 early without permission, ourselves and Sega have made the decision to bring the release date of Football Manager 2005 forward to this Thursday, November 4th. If you do not live in the UK, then the release date for the game is now thus - 4th November Turkey Germany Switzerland Benelux Spain Bangladesh Hungary Portugal Malta Cyprus Israel Italy Singapore Nordic UAE France Iceland Romania Slovenia South Africa Greece 10th November Czech Republic Poland 12th November Australia New Zealand South Korea 3rd December China To be announced USA South America Canada Japan Indonesia Malaysia Thailand We hope you enjoy Football Manager 2005 as much as we enjoy making it, and we apologise about any release date confusion - but at least it's being brought forward, rather than slipping! |

PhysioRoom agreement for Football Manager 2005
Sports Interactive's upcoming soccer management title to benefit from the input of online sports injury specialist PhysioRoom.com.
Sports Interactive today announced that it has entered into a partnership with online sports injury specialist PhysioRoom.com. The site is designed to be the definitive resource for information about injuries sustained by soccer players in the English Premier League, and it's hoped that, as a result of the agreement announced today, the injuries sustained by players in Football Manager 2005 will be totally authentic.
"We are big fans of the previous [Championship Manager] management games that SI created and have spent far too much time over the years playing them," said PhysioRoom.com's cofounder Peter Lilley. "However, we thought the injury reports could be improved, therefore making the game even more realistic. For example, there were too many occurrences of one type of injury, and all injuries seemed to come about through random bad luck. In reality, the number and impact of injuries suffered by a club can be lessened by good managerial decision-making. We put this to Sports Interactive, and they were positive, because they were keen to improve realism in their new games."
"By incorporating PhysioRoom.com's experience into FM 2005, we're giving our users one extra, and invaluable, stream of information to help them in their day-to-day team management, therefore making the experience even more realistic," added Miles Jacobson, managing director at Sports Interactive. "Should your star player be returning from injury before a crucial match, do you take the risk of a relapse by playing him, or do you leave him out so he might regain full fitness in time for the remaining games of the season? The final decision will still be the manager's, but from here on, he or she will be making that decision from a more informed position."
Sega plans to publish Football Manager 2005 in Europe toward the end of this year. We'll bring you more information on the game as soon as it becomes available.
