Ask and you shall receive

This is a tribute of sorts to a friend of mine. He's also 21 and several years ago, got thrown out of the house by his single mother for screwing up his education. Anyone else in that situation would have ended up with a dead-end job and a crappy rented apartment for the rest of his life. But this kid had a dream. Today, he makes around $850,000/yr (before taxes) from the three companies he founded with his partner: Aieon Computers, CPU Parts International and AFT Consulting. His success is a constant reminder to me that the limits of what we can achieve are determined ONLY by our imagination. The more we ask of life, the more we will receive. So next time someone tells you that you're expecting too much, smile and double your expectations. And Brandon, even though you probably won't read this, way to fucking go man! You're an inspiration!

True, its half stupid, because you cannot look at anything from an extremist view by saying "there is NO excuse for being poor", but tell that to the kid who's the son of a single parent teen mother, living in a low income area. He will go to a school that will teach him nothing about how to survive in the streets, and will probalbly turn to crime in order to survive. Sure he can work really hard, say no to drugs, work 4 part time jobs to get through college, but for the most part people arent that mentally and physically capable.

There are millions of minimum wage jobs out there to start into if necissary. I know thats tough living to start out but if you are honest and hardworking you can not only make it work, but advance it further.

If i had the option of begging for money or turning to crime or working id choose work. If i were incapable it would be because i had physical or mental problems for which there is plenty of help for. Dont tell me there arent social programs in place either. The city of toronto spends literally 100s of millions of dollars per year on the homeless for facilities that they wont use (because they have rules)

How do you work if you dont have a house? People wont hire you if you dont have a place of residence. And have you been to one of these "fancy" homeless shelters that you speak of? Most of them are like prisons, homeless people feel safer on the streets then in the shelters.

If he started computer and consulting businesses, then I'd suggest that he has marketable skills...not everyone is in the same boat.

He worked at something and has done quite well for himself..so that's a combination of (presumably) hard work and good fortune.

Whomever suggests that "anyone" can do this is quite naive though...there are plenty of people who bust there ass and encounter some misfortune or circumstances outside of their control that really sets them back.

He had marketable skills because he worked to acquire them. He wasn't born with them. Learning skills isn't limited to a select few.

His success, like the successes of nearly all people we look up to can be attributed FULLY to hard work, persistance, ambition, etc. NOT luck. There's no such thing. People only call it that because all they see is the big break that person finally got. They don't see the THOUSANDS of failures that lead up to it. Trust me, he had to go through hell and back to get to where he is. If you don't believe me, stop by sometime and i'll show you my archive of failures - the contracts i bid on and didn't get. 850k/yr before taxes is his share of the profit. His partner makes a little less. Sales from Aieon alone are around $8,000,000/yr.

ANYONE can become a millionaire. I repeat. ANYONE can become a millionaire. The people who bust their ass and get nowhere are doing a great job climbing up the ladder.. but it's the wrong damn ladder! Too many people take a path without even bothering to take a look at where it leads. I can tell you right now that 98% of people will NEVER experience true financial freedom. Once again, the misfortunes he went through are UNIMAGINABLE. Truly beyond what anyone would expect to encounter. He was literally a step from success several times and then had to start all over again from the very first step. I have no idea how he did it.

why spend 4-5 years of your life going thru hell to get your education when you can become a millionaire in that time and ride the wave for the rest of your life...?

Bullshit. Through high school I received $0 from anybody, in fact I had to pay for my own food and rent at home, I worked part time everyday, and busted my ass studying whenever I wasn't working to get 2 scholarships. Now I'm putting myself through uni and still giving money to my parents.

ANYBODY can do that, it's not luck of the draw like lazy unmotivated undisciplined people love to believe.

sorry but like u said u live in an upper middle class home. people who live in poverty usually stay in poverty. not because lack of education or lack of chance, its because people learn what they are taught. if theyve lived their life poor and only know ghetto theyre going to grow up ghetto, unless of course they have alot of selfdiscipline and have drive. but that all leads back to focus. people do well at what their focus is on. believe it or not some of the greatest minds of our times live in traiulor parks in the US (ive seen a large documentary on it). Its not because they dont have the brain capacity its just that their focus is on the wrong things. but who are we to say what the wrong thing is. u live ur life as u wish. forget this 4 car garage mansion North american bullshit. thats what life is not abt. If u want to live a fulfilling life make a change in the world. the problem is people do things for the pay back not for the good of society and thats why most people will be forgotten after their time is up.
