Mutu Tests +ve for Cocaine

Mutu was probably one of the last people i could have expected to be the one who tested positive when the FA had not announced the name of the player. Im truly shocked by this as he was always a player whom i held in very high regard.

It was not a funny period for him. He is a footballer and it was impossible for him to do his job. When you are down psychologically sometimes you do drugs or medecine. But one is illegal.

Makes you wonder who else would do this kinda things. I bet a few footballers have probably tried coke.

Supposidly they are guna give him a lighter suspension if he goes into rehab

Whats the current ban on players if they test positive?

Didnt the news of a failed drug test give it away a bit. I mean its a shame I really like Romanian players from Mutu to Zicu. Feel bad for him and his family.

Hope he recovers.

I recon more than a few, with premiership - esque salaries, the lifestyle and with a fair bit of time off in the summer i'd bet the majority of top flight footballers take/have experimented with recreational drugs.

I still dont understand the problem (and possible ban!) thoughh? Its not as if cocaine is in any way shape or form, performance enhancing, quite the opposite, so if he's stupid enough to take drugs let him get on with it.

Even if its ilegal, it really isnt a matter for the FA or whatever.

Mutu had a shitty year. lots of problems with divorce, injuries, no play time and other crap...
sucks for him, but at the end he can;t blame anyone but himself. it was very stupid of him, even though I think he is a light user

ps zicu sucks

Definetly depressing coming from a Soccer Fan's point of view, let alone the Romanians and Chelsea fans. I think we are seeing a sad trend of players letting fame take them down the drain (Mutu, Deisler etc). This maybe pre mature, but I think some teams should start having some sort of specialist to help out with this sort of problem so it's prevented.

this really leaves Chelsea's strike force in a bit of trouble!

it does..in fact they actually looking to recall carlton cole from his loan spell at villa

I dont see why everyone is suprised that Mutu was tested positive for Coke. He is the perennial "bad-boy" and back home in Romania is renouned for his brashness, party-hearty personality and sex escapades.

Anyways, as far as im concerned coke is a social drug and not performance enhancing. As such, a 2 year ban from soccer is ridiculous because he didnt cheat anybody but himself. Its like getting fired because you smoke dope at home. Players like Mutu need rehab not lengthy suspensions.

commitement cant be taught but it can be exemplified after which it can be learnt by those who lack it. And its prejudiced to say that all those who get paid the big bucks follow the path of drugs else the entire chelsea squad would be overdosing on coke instead of bathing in oil(think of a certain russian). And if you want to pick a player who displays ambition rooney's still a long shot away from that. You would want to pick players like bergkamp, shearer and roy keane who despite their age are still serving as mentors for the younger stars in their respective teams.

rooney will get involved in some sort of scandal , you will see
