Melb: Future DJ Australian Final @ Red Eye Bar

OK after much ranting I've finally got the details of the big finale for the nationwide tertiary student DJ comp:

Date: Friday 29th October 2004
Venue: Red Eye Bar, 17 Carlisle St, St.Kilda (look for red building just off Acland St)

Lineup:
Noel B (breaks, hip hop) QUEENSLAND UNI (QLD)
Ish (breaks, hip hop) UNI OF SA (SA)
Gareth Harrison (electro, house, breaks) BALLARAT UNI (VIC)
Pete Tran (house) DEAKIN UNI (VIC)
Jon Noonan (progressive trance) UNIVERSITY OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA (WA) <-Me

Other DJs performing on the night include:
I DJ BLIND (RnB)
Telefunken (MONASH UNI)
Tim Nixon vs Lister Cooray

Judges will be:
Andre Cato, Andrew Marsh, Mark James, Paul Goldsmith & Agent 86

Got a birthday on, but would love to come down and see what new talent is on show. Would also like to see Lister Cooray, a mate of mine playing out loud. He plays some real good prog/trance, but never seen him in a club.

Nah he owns 12am. I haven't exactly figured out what they do, something in promotions I think, but they've got a pretty cool website www.12am.com.au

I was thinking of entering this next year (hadn't been doing it long enough to enter this year), what was it like, worth it?
How do you also make a 15 minute mix or whatever time limit you have - thats just too short to do anything with trance, I saw you played about 8 tunes or sumthin (or at least I thought you said that somewhere) , any method to keep a flow etc?

Surely I can beat a hip-hop dj (UniSA)
