Does this site also advertise free iPods?

this probably has something to do with intel lowering the prices on their processors

I actually just tryed it on Dell.com and when you bring the laptop that you choose into the shopping cart, there's a place to enter the coupon ( ZD5$P0NS954P16 ) and it did take 750$ off the price.

Quite an amazing deal, too bad I already have one.

Dell are also in the UK still trying to sell brand new pc's with only 256mb ram

Then again there's enough people who don't know enough about computers who'd put up with it

You get what you pay for. Dell has so much proprietary hardware and software I'd just as soon spend about $50 more and get something I can upgrade and something everybody else can support as well.

and why not the 'advanced' user?

what brand it most suited to an advanced user and is home building the way forward overall?

If by adavanced, probably ment gaming computers, so brands to look at are Alienware (I have a laptop from them, not worth the price), Falcon Northwest, etc... they use normal parts that you can buy at the store, but build it and tune it for you.

I build my own though, so on them.

brand doesnt matter, as long as YOU choose parts for your computer, thats what i did with this laptop
