Connecting Hardware Help

Im a bit of a newbie when it comes to connecting hardware synths to machines.

Basically ive just bought a novation k station. I have a usb midi cable which is all connected and seems to work. I can use the synth in conjunction with other vsts etc but the sound coming out is that of the vst NOT the hardware.

Ive been told I need to connect the L/R output channel from the synth to the line in on my pc. If this is the case, how do i select 'line in' as the channel output for a particular channel in cubase?

Will have have to rec the output from the synth into 3rd party software and then import the recorded wave INTO cubase? Surely theres a better way of doing it?

Any explanation would be great!

Thanks for any help

first what you need to do is tell us what sound card you have...and by the sound of it, I think you have a very cheap one that came with your comp. Yes what you can do is plug the K output to the line in of your comp sound card..but you will need to goto teh master mixer in windows(if your using it) and select the line in to enable it. Thats it! You will be able to record in cubase now..but remeber you must have a track record enabeled to record any sound ok!(make sure the red record button is clicked) then click the record button in the transport bar and start playing.
