growing out of 'beginner' decks

I've heard this phrase used on here before, and although its abvious what it means, i was wondering what starts to happen when you grow out of 'beginner' decks, how can you tell if you are

Anyone who had shite decks before they got good ones care to enlighten me?

you notice that you are no longer limited by your skill as much as you are limited by your equipment...

when you have to spend so much time making sure the records stay matched you cannot put your attention to more creative parts of the mix, eq'ing, cutting, effects, that sort of thing.

I had probably the worst DJ decks in history when I started out, how I realised I had outgrown them, was when I'd get them matched and synced, and you could tell every few seconds they were JUST starting to go out of sync, and when you wanted to play around more with other things, but you couldn't since you had to keep an eye on the pitch.

Maybe it is a good idea to start with the shitty equipment. If you can beatmatch on belt-drive TT's then you can sure as hell beatmatch on Direct Drive TT's. Of course, there is always that frustration factor.

so would you say that this is the case with me then, i've been having this problem lately where i cant get two tracks to stay together perfectly, especially when the pitch slider is around the 0 point. Or am I just being shite.

I have TT1650's BTW

very much so.

with regards to whether this s the case with you or not, it would be hard for use to tell you that over the internet but you are definietly right about the 1650's around the 0% mark, i used to have them and i had exactly the same problem.

3xx3r7 is rihgt, it is good to learn on shite decks. yes its frustrating, but it teaches you to dj better i think.
