FinalScratch 2
Just saw this today, after seeing
the 2 hour video of Paul van Dyk using it with FinalScratch 1.5 version.
[Paul van Dyk - Live at Clubnight HR-TV 25-09-2004]
Hope they fix the bugs, should be great

The All-New ScratchAmp 2 At the heart of FinalScratch 2 is the new ScratchAmp 2, a FireWire audio interface that delivers maximum audio throughput with minimal latency. Professional Sound Plug in your turntables, CD players and microphone to industry-standard 24-bit/96kHz converters for studio-quality sound. And because the ScratchAmp 2 is passive, you can run audio through the amp without power. Blazing FireWire Speed The ScratchAmp 2 uses FireWire protocol to process multi-channel audio with minimal latency, allowing the software decks to respond as quickly as your hands. A FireWire Thru port lets you connect an iPod or external hard drive. Solid Design with MIDI Built-In Thanks to its MIDI In and Out ports, the ScratchAmp 2 is ready to connect with many of the vast MIDI controllers available for additional "hands-on" control. The small and rugged aluminum chassis is perfect for home use or on the road. New Traktor FS Software & Compatibility with Traktor DJ Studio Compatible with Mac or PC, Traktor FS 2 gives DJs a simple, yet powerful way to organize music and play it back using two virtual decks. Traktor FS 2 supports today's most popular file formats-including MP3, WAV, AIFF, AAC and WMA-and can even play tracks right off your computer's CD-ROM drive or an external FireWire hard disk. Best of all, FinalScratch 2 hardware is now compatible with the award-winning Traktor DJ Studio by Native Instruments. By upgrading to the full version of Traktor, users gain a host of powerful features like looping, independent control over pitch and tempo, plus onboard filter effects and the ability to non-destructively record and edit your mix. Or just hate the old version < 1.5 and wouldnt bother this time round because of the bugs and faults that some people have from the previous versions.
great vid hey! but not as good as 2003!.
im waiting for version 2 to come out also, im considering it for sure!
I like CDJ's better then FS.
Something to replicate a 12" interface is something that's living in the past, CDJ's are moving forwards (as other other things like Ableton live)

Didn't PVDs computer hit the blue screen of death using Final Scratch at NYE in America??
Thats why in this video he was using a MAC
g4
The Windows/PC version of Final Scratch doesn't run on Windows. It runs a custom build of Linux. I'm not sure how he'd of had a blue screen, unless it was built into Final Scratches OS.
I've used FS before and booted the laptop into Final Scratch, at no stage does it go anywhere near windows.
I'm not sure about the Mac version, but his reason for getting a mac would be something other then Final Scratch crashing[perhaps the laptop he had had issues, where as the G4 is known to be solid on the touring circuit?]

the reason paul uses it is becasue the laptop is his studio.... he makes and edits tracks on long haul flights and because the majority of the stuff he plays he receives electronically as high qualty 24bit aiff files then there is unrivaled sound reproduction using FS.
obviously if u had to convert and stuff it would be a pain but i know for a fact VANDIT has all their catalouge on high quality AIFF.
so it makes sense for him

| Originally posted by RobSolaris take note: I had FS 1.0 when it was released in usa thought it was cool! but i must admitt! "Its more like a toy than a dj tool"! its very time consuming. 1) record each vinyl one by one (7-9 minutes wait depending on the song) 2) trim start/end of audio file (1-2 minutes) 3) covert wave to mp3 (2minutes) 4) stripping the mp3 (so it could display the audio map onto the screen ) (3-5minutes) takes aprox 15 minutes per song ![]() please have a look at your record collection then think very carefully about this one. |
