Good portable CD/MP3 players?

I need to go abroad for six months and figured that a portable CD player (disc-man) with MP3 support would be the way to bring my favourite music along with me. But I don't know which player to buy.
It should preferably be equipped with a lithium-ion battery or some other kind of long lasting re-chargeable thingy, and should (of course) play like a dream. Other than that I have no requirements (price is not a priority).

Any suggestions?
