Smiley DJ Sunquest Vs. Ylar - Faded

hey folks,
this is a new collab between me and this amazingly talented guy
decided to share with u to c ur thoughts as we're still deciding what to fix...
one thing: the voice u hear in the end of the sample was recorded for us by a vocalist and later on hopefully she will sing some words for us, just need to give her the lyrics, we know the position of the ahhhhhh ohhhhh might be off now, shes gonna resing it so ignore that part

anyways here it is:

Genre: Trance
Length: 3:54
Quality: 160 kbps

amazing piece of work... i especially like the way you integrate the whole breakbeat section in the middle and it just seems to flow nicely...

Vocals are pretty clean and clear... there are some notes slightly out of tune which I could pick up... Don't know if this is a big issue as I played violin for 12 years and my ears are conditioned to pick up anything slightly out of tune...

Listen to the E note that she sings... it is a bit flat.. also the A note she sings later on, that is quite flat... it kinda gets back on tune.. but it starts off pretty flat...

The thing with vocalists is that you need to get them to takes over takes over takes... just spend like one day where you just sit there and have her sing over and over again.. let her listen to what she sounds like so that she can decide what she has to do better or what she is doing well already... Trying to get the perfect take is a lot of work...

Anyways, the production is great, nothing much to flaw... very seemless... nothing stands out negatively I find

good job

lol kewlness funny u say
just some things to clear up: this girl is doing vocals over msn, she lives in US i live in canada hehe and the guy im collabing with lives in Estonia lol ya so thats quiet a big space...

now about the vocals: this girl was just singing random notes without even singing to the beat of the song hehe, and she only did 1 take :S and some how we fit it into the track, so now im asking her to re-sing it but perfectly.... so ya we'll keep trying, and u are right, some notes are off , but dont worry

thanx for comments

PS: i like ur sig.

Mmmmm....i like it a lot. Those vocals, when done right, will be amazing. I agree about the breaks, i've been getting more and more into breaks and thats exactly what i like....

nice job once again man....i can't believe how many tunes you put out in such a short time.....

Sounds great mate. When you get the finished vocals, make sure they are nice and loud and clear. I've heard a few vocal tracks on TA recently and the tendency is to bury them a little bit, but they should be crrranked!
Tune is awesome though, love the breakbeat section with the nice brassy melody.

cool beat in the break

cool melody

i think you should add more percs
cauze it doesnt sound full enough

anyway good track but i heard better from you

ps.
what with "Reality"?!?!
just gotta put my hands on the full lenght track

I'm amazed how on earth you can put out a new track once a week..

Breakbeats are nice.. More of them..

Some more percussion wouldn't hurt.

Pretty cool tune! Riff is very Push like... which is ace! As you've said you need those vox sorted but its coming along great!

Sorry Ron, melody didn't do it for me

Breakbeat part is nice done indeed.

Posted by Luke Terry on Oct-26-2004 11:24:

really good lads, get this sent my way when it's done if you can

Posted by EtherealSL on Oct-26-2004 17:36:

flows amazingly well

i don't think it's entirely necessary to bring out vocals... i think it sounds just fine where it's at... a lil reverb would be nice on those vox, however

keep it up

Get this finished asap

whoa. this forum is quite intimidating when you hear tunes like this next to your own. nice and loud from the word go which is always a good sign. the break beat is good but you need to layer another snare with more treble and/or add a bit of air on it with an EQ because it gets lost when the synths come in and its barely audible amid the kicks and synths. the vocals could do with a long reverb on it a touch of delay and maybe widen it in the stereo field cuz it sounds fairly flat at the mo. the rest of the track is *tight* as you like though. the plucked arp is great.

if you are gonna get another session with that vocalist that would be awesome cuz i think she hits a tiny bit of a bum note dont tell her i said that though.

quality tune though. would look good with my name in front of it j/k

i like it

Shalom my friend ,

Almost missed this one .
Anyway - Intro is pretty funky, i like it. Nice break. The breakbeat is sick really diggin it. The melody is abit annoying to be honest , but it might grow up on me later i guess.

Nice work guys.

Keep it real

Antonio

Agree with that too, the vocals seem a little "dry" to me.

Otherwise, great work!

Ant.

Ch0000000n!!!!

Love it

Breakbeat is hot & so are all of the leads and everything, drums could be a little more quality though
