Props out to Swamp, Boy Trance, Smackers and Trancearmada that I saw there. I hope you all had a great time, the crowd wasn't bad at all! Many ladies for you single men...

I just got back to ottawa!!!! I had an awesome night. And I got to meet Swamper which was really cool. The last hour and a half of PvD set was like a blow to my head. I couldn't stop moving so it was really weird when everything just shut down. But hey the night was amazing and now i'm even going to go to work and class because I'm still pumped. Then I'm going to crash out hard. Talk to you guys later.

Wow, I didn't get to go to Seamen, but I enjoyed that more than Tiesto. Music was great, mixing was great, crowd was pretty good, but he's a little lacking in the enthousiasm area. I would have liked to have seen him "appear" to be a little more into it than he was, but that didn't change what my ears heard. I ended up meeting Special K whom I know is a tribe member, not sure if he's a TA member. I was hanging around the meeting area for a good 45 minutes?!? I couldn't remember what everyone was going to wear, and didn't see any TranceAddict shirts either. Was someone wearing an orange shirt and black kangol visor?

Anyone know what remix of Insigma he played? Loved hearing his remix of Vaiio - Rapture and hearing Marco V - Simulated live was an ear treat. Got home about 5:00 and now I'm at work, oh joy!

Posted by chewd0g on Oct-11-2001 16:19:

an encore is when you cheer 'em on to keep playing

an encore track is a track they play during the encore

PVD Review

Well, despite having minimal sleep the night before (2 hours) - I laced up my shoes and hit guvernment for PVD around 12:30.

All I have to say is that for anyone that hasn't seem PVD live, getting your glimpse will be an awakening. It is hard to fathom what people mean when they talk about the energy PVD creates during his sets - I am exstatic to finally understand the depth of this energy and the fucking sick (yah babay) talent of the man himself - Paul Van Dyk.

PVD surpasses all eXpecTatiOnS!

I also must say that the lights at guvernment are the sTanK! I was so bit last night

PS - Damn, I should have sported the TA shirt!

bTW- Thanks to the 2 lovely boys who plucked us from the line-up and got us into guvernment VIP-style.

no prob shmack, just looking out for my fellow ta's!

as for pvd, holy fuck did he kick my ass! i wasn't even planning on going but low and behold, i was there and god damn glad that i didn't miss this! i'd have to say that he kicked tiesto's ass from sat! he played it hard and non stop all night long. it was also wicked when started dropping breaks, i went nuts!

again, shoutouts to all the ta's that i ran into last night, it's always awsome seeing you guys!

my track of the night had to have been Marco V - Simulated. that song is awsome on the phazon!

Question Tracklist

Could we get a tracklist going? He played a few songs, one in particular that I don't know the names of but I've gotta have'em! .. I'm terrible for remembering what songs he played and the order but I know of

Vaiio - Rapture (PvD Remix)
Marco v - Simulated
Insigma - Open Your Eyes (some mix)

Not much, but whatever, anyone have a better memory?

Posted by RuffRyda on Oct-11-2001 19:24:

Lightbulb

let's see what i can remember...

pvd - we're alive
pvd - out there
pvd - another way
pvd - columbia
pvd - for an angel

for some reason, i can only remember the pvd tracks

Talking PVD...what else is there to say?

WOWOWOWOWOWOW!!! I'm always hype to see da man himself, I mean I thought the first time I saw him at Koolhaus in Feb was good, it was, but this time he just blew me completely away!!! SHIAT!! I mean when he spun For an Angel for the encore wow, perfection. Plus out there and back, columbia (I think) and a few other stuff, awwwwwwww I went berserk like always. Anywayz I can't wait to hit up MORE parties like the ones I've just been to, I'm gonna be rambling on about them for a few months at least. lol I was tryin to see if I could pick out a few TA's (from the descriptions off here but had no such luck, mebbe next time.)Later ppl.

Me.

Thumbs up Toronto Kicks Ass!

Its amazing how wikked parties put you on a natural high that lasts for days. I've been flying since Tiesto and PVD kicked my ASS yesterday!!!

Still got for an angel looping in my head and my body is mashed!

I was totally blown away by the crowd there last night. I had no idea it would be so rammed. Toronto is so fukkin hype!!!!!!! Respect to the Guv for bringing some of the hypest dj's in the world these last 2 weeks.

It was great to meet some of you TA's at Tiesto (I was that 6'5 guy in tha blue nike shirt next to ya's most of the night) wish I ran into some last night.

My one complaint is that PVD played with no emotion. I love when a dj plays with the crowd like Tiesto and Corston did. PVD never even looked at the crowd. Guess he had his head in his boxes fishing out all those bangin' choons! Suppose thats a good thing.

All in all a sick night. I felt it was a perfect follow up to Tiesto who brought all our hands in the air and PVD brought tha house down and banged the shit out us!!!!!!!!!!!

Peace
Az

Jester

I guess it was at about 3 in the morning when the music hit me... at about quarter to four all i did was laugh... i mean i didn't know what else to do... i couldn't dance any harder, couldn't move any faster so i just laughed......

Its quite an amazing feeling when a dj can overload your system in that way... and its that feeling that keeps me coming back again and again...

Only 2 dj's whom i've heard live have ever done that for me:

1. Mauro Picotto @ Guv
2. PVD at Warehouse in Feb and again this morning at Guv

A lot of people were talking about how good Tiesto was and how his set was awesome... for me he just didn't bring me to that level or should i say that state of mind...

The friend i went with who had never seen PVD was in awe... all he could keep saying was "WOW"....

Well PVD doesn't show much expression while on the turntables, but i really doubt that that is what he's feeling inside... His music is just an expression of what he has on the inside, he is touching us with his aura, metaphysically speaking, and simply uses the music as his aura's vehicle (for the lack of a better word)....

PVD is the puppetmaster, he knows exactly what strings to pull and how to pull them.... and really that's what seperates the good dj's (like Tiesto, Corsten, etc, etc.) from great dj's like Paul Van Dyk...

Posted by Evmac on Oct-11-2001 21:16:

After watching that Mayday200o Video I thought PVD was gonna go nuts, but I did notice also that he didn't seem to have that mmuch emotion... Oh well the mixing and track selection made up for it!

Posted by JM on Oct-11-2001 21:18:

after reading all this, i've got some really high expectations for PVD here in Seattle this sunday....

wow, i cant wait....

Monkey Dancer 2 PVD

After reading all the reviews.........I am confindent that PVD's set is gonna be off the chain here in Atlanta tonight.......

I can't wait........You guys mention the "energy" he creates.......I need to experience and see that myself tonight..........

I'll tell you guys how the set goes......

Posted by Durafei on Oct-11-2001 21:43:

Damn.. You guys should be nice to your fellow tranceaddicts who missed the show
Instead of saying how good he was, you should pretend that he was bad. Otherwise we'll all die from envy
After all, PVD won't come back for a while.

The difference being that when he plays at Mayday he's at home and loving it... Also you'll notice in that set towards the end he seems to be under the influence of something....lol

Classic video.

PVD is a clean DJ...he doesn't drink or do drugs....I remember ppl were saying that he was drunk during the Mayday set but I don;t believe it. PVD moves the crowd with his music...he rarely ever dances around or interacts with the crowd but he more then makes up for that with the tunes he drops and his unbelievable mixing skills....

Damn i wish i was feeling well and gone to PVD !!!!! Grrrrr
