RIP John Peel
i don't know how many of you guys will know who he is, but he is a total legend in the UK for being a massive connisseur of all music, including a lot of genres that people wouldn't expect someone like john to be interested in, for example techno, trance, hardcore and gabba. he was famous for playing gigs with a very eclectic feel, playing a lot of large clubs in ibiza, as well as many other places world wide. he was a massive promotion for hundreds of up and coming acts. today, he died aged 65 of a heart attack:

No more Peel Sessions, shame. A true legend, will be a huge void to fill after he's gone.

I've not posted on TA in a long time but when I found out about Peel's death I felt compelled to.
If ever there was a man who listened to music always without prejudice, it was him.
This is the tragic loss of man who kept every single genre of music alive.
RIP.

OMG what gutting news, i loved john peel, he defonatly was a legend and will be sadly missed. my respects to his family and friends
The man stood up for what he believed in and never discriminated as many had on sounds, he'll really be missed, esp on the voiceovers for tv adverts where he sounds better than most ppl too.

Didnt he do some of the coverage every year for Glastonbury with the bbc aswell? He really was a legend. RIP

a legend-RIP.
A true legend that will be completely missed, the people that he helped along the way, when they all give their tributes to him, will be a who's who's of music, bowie, orbital and many many others. The man did something that few actually do these days, he gave so much to the scene that he cherished, he gave and gave till his dying day. I was doing a legends of EDM feature but I'll do a feature on John Peel sometime next week because I feel his contribution to music cannot be overlooked and that people who are younger, need to realize this.
John was a great DJ, such a shame with the circumstances of his death too, it was totally unexpected. Not that knowing he was going to die soon would be good of course.

This is such sad news, the man is a legend in music and will be greatly missed, he was so diverse in his listening, from Punk to 30's big time Bands to Jazz to Hardcore and so much else.
John Peel was the only DJ that the BBC could not playlist, i admire the man for sticking to his principles for his entite life.
Many a long journey up and down the country have been made so much better by listening to John Peel and never knowing what to expect from him, the Peel Sessions are his legacy to what he has given to music

A sorry day. Rest in peace John. I hope someone has the same passion and enthusiasm to carry the legacy that John pioneered on for the sake of music.
John Peel was a hero. Such an eclectic style, you could just not pigeon hole him into anything other than good music!
I remember when I used to drive home from school with my Dad when I was about 11 and we would listen to his show....
the only dj that truly deserves the "Superstar Dj" title.
