Question about EQing

I read many talking about EQing at such and such frquency. For example, bass should be at 60khz, etc. But my question is, all my eq plugins are set in DB, the hz are already predefined, you can only set the DB at eack of those predefined Hz. So would would take kicks for example, and set it at 50?

you misinterpret. you cant set a kick at 50hz. a kick will have a predefined frequency range, you cannot change this but what you can do is select a frequency within that range and boost or cut the volume of it giving it more or less presence around that frequency. the best EQs are parametric EQs because you have more control than band EQs.

Use a parametric EQ plugin... with that you can set the frequencies (hz values) to boost, as well as the volume (db values) to boost them by.
