Thumbs up John Askew

I just wanted to start an apperication thread on this great producer.

The 'Askew' sound is amazing. Huge kick drums, driving percussion and his own unique take on trance. The type of bangin trance I love.

His recent work on 'Club Music Ep' is fantastic.

Bravo John Askew !! Keep Up the good work.

John Askew - Blackout!!!!

Askew is a better dj imo, the man blends techno and trance together very well and he never seems to get the credit that he deserves. I expect his dj career to get very big (if it ain't big enough already)

Waiting for his remix of Castaneda - Floor Control.
Same style. Bangin' in-your-face, driving trance.
Gotta love the guy.

Askew is great has some great mixes.

yep, great DJ and producer, someone who brings something new to trance which is few and far between these days. i love his sets, the way he lays little techno loops over his trance and stuff to make it more driving and banging. and oh.. when he plays techno, he plays fucking techno!

also happens to be one of the soundest DJ's i have ever spoken to.

Yep - fantastic producer. His remix of Floor Control is just and I'm also a big fan of Skylab & Air Guitar. High quality trance all the way with kickdrums that can put your windows through.

BTW, check Pablo Gargano's 'Osho' if you like Askew-style trance with thunderous kicks. Hardly surprising given Gargano has co-produced some of Askew's stuff.

Thumbs up

He's a quality DJ and producer - he's got a residency at The Gallery in London and whenever I've seen him he's always impressed me

'Electraglide' is one of the best tunes i've heard lately!!
awesome stuff, really gets you going!!

I like his statement regarding to kick drums:
quote:

Interview for Time Out Cyprus (March 04)
What are the 3 most important things people should know about John Askew?
- Kick drums are the most important thing in my life. Everything else is a footnote.
...

His Introspection remix was great and The Door is one of his greatest productions.

I haven't really heard the man DJ so I can't say anything about that but his productions don't really do anything for me. It seems that all the power is directed to the beat and the bassline and everything else is just filler... I guess they'd work well live but...

This is what makes it sound so MASSIVE on a club system. Its like you body is being f#cked with each kick drum. Amazing sh!t

Yeah, but that's not good production - it's just cranking the volume up.

It works and thats the fact. If you listen, you'll realise it aint just down the beat & the bassline at all.

It's not a fact, it's your opinion. It works for you. Not for me. End of.

My opinion is fact IMHO

Well it must work if his productions are getting signed and sold and playlisted by big jocks? I mean he isn't doing anything wrong is he?

I didn't say they aren't working, I said they aren't working for me. How many times do you need me to repeat that?

i think music is created first thing for hearing...second thing is for the clubs and these tracks maybe rocks in clubs but for me it doesn't do anything when i hear it in my house or in the car or whatever....
