OMG Holy SHIT!!!

An amazing postseason, arguably the best ever. Maybe the Cubs can win it next year. Or maybe not, they're still cursed

Do I really have to point out that the Yankees have won the World Series 26 times and I have personally seen them win it FOUR times. Enjoy your win, Boston deserved it...but the Yankees are still the greatest team in baseball and always will be.

That is a fairly dumb comment. Especially considering that your best player played High School baseball in NY.

That doesn't matter. The best team in baseball this year is the Boston Red Sox. Past success has nothing to do with present or future success. Just ask the Boston Celtics...

Since basketball is probably the worst game in the world, I couldn't give a shit. But it just kills me how we'll see all the cocky Red Sox fans bragging about this for years to come saying they're the best...even though they'll never get near the mystique and glory of the Yankees. Baseball is a game rooted in history moreso than the other sports...you say you're such a fan, I'm surprised you so readily brush aside the past.

Ummm... where were these die hard Yankee fans in 1992? Or 1989? Or anytime in the late 80's/early 90's? They were nowhere because they didn't exist. They were giving away tickets in the 80's to Yankee games. But all of a sudden, after '96, there were Yankee fans everywhere. Ask them who played center field before Bernie Williams most would have no idea. So don't go saying that all of a sudden Boston fans will be cocky. Beause every team that wins has fans that are cocky. If the Mets won the WS in '00, there would have been a 75% increase in fans, I'm sure. Now, there's few of us left.

And as for me brushing aside the past... I'm not. I love the history of baseball. And I love baseball today. I love seeing records get broken, etc. But the Yankees having more championships than any other team has nothing to do with 2004. Did the Yankees win this year? No. Did the Cardinals? No. Did the Red Sox? Yes. If history played a part in determining which the better team is, then wouldn't the Red Sox have won 75 championships by now because they were the team before 1919. If the past determined the ebtter team, the Sox would've continued to win. But they didn't. And many other teams stepped up and won. However... the Red Sox won tonight. And that's all that matters now. But you can go to sleep reassuring yourself that the Yankees are still better than the Red Sox this year...

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Oct-28-2004 05:17:

Oh come on...the Yankees have always had the biggest fanbase in baseball. In 89 and 92, I was in elementary school wearing a Yankee hat and saw them play in Detroit and Toronto once each of those years, just like I have every year since I was six. And I think it was Reberto Kelly who played CF for the yankees before Bernie Williams.

I'll go to sleep knowing that I've seen my team win it four times and that their greatest rivals finally broke a pathetic run of losing...making the rivlary even better for next year.

If you told fans of every other team that they'll suffer the mother of all collapses to their hated rival after getting to see their team win 4 world series titles in 8 years, just about every fan would take that choice.

Let 'em enjoy it ffs

^^^ I intend on it. Boston played a hell of a postseason and deserve to be World Series champions in every respect. But you have to realise they're still the enemy and I don't like it one bit. I just don't like the cockiness, considering their past.

bye bye the curse of the bambinoooooooo

Wow amazing team. I'm not a big fan of baseball but the red sox sucked me into watching it this year (plus my dad is a huge RS fan). One of the most dominating performances I've seen.

I'll be happy for at least a week!!!!

I love the Red Sox

WHo cares. You know that whole "we won 26 champoinships" is getting pretty old. The Sox won it this year, and they beat the yankees. The yankees will forever be known as "the only team is baseball history who lost a 7 game series when it was up 3-0"

so there
haha

SO what? I once ate a burger in chicago

Yanks choked, and I LOVE IT

NO MORE BILL FUCKIN BUCKNER
NO MORE AARON BLEEPIN BOONE
Burn the 1918 posters YANKEE FANS... They're about as good now as rapidly-dissolving toilet paper.

Infact we have a new chant for the yankees

My point was that there are more than just Yankee fans in New York City. It's not like all 10+ million of us are Yankee fans...

Actually all that glorious stuff is still there...you still can't deny that you went 86 years without winning jack shit. You still can't erase Bucky Dent's or Boone's homers. Nor can you somehow forget that the Yankees have won 26 World Series and broken Red Sox hearts umpteen times. You're the typical idiot who just jumps on the bandwagon for something like this. I bet half of the US population are now Red Sox fans.

Did you ever take math? Let's count...Mr. Derek Jeter can still go to Fenway and wave around his FOUR rings...yes, that's right...FOUR. Last time I checked, four was better than one.

But that's fine...you just keep jerking off to this win all winter. It will be your last....for another 86 years hopefully.

haha whooooo careeeeeeeeees.. we won that's all that matters
george must have his cock up your ass too

Oh and By the way, I'm not on the bandwagon. I've been following the sox since 1995, and I can name you every player which has played for them during that time span

STFU

Oh my God you're a fucking idiot.

Boston Red Sox payroll - 130 million plus.
St. Louis Cardinals payroll - 83 million.

Quit bitching about payroll...the Red Sox are just like the Yankees. They pay to win....except for once, they finally did win something.

I just love how a fanbase that was so down in the dumps and obsessed about losing is now the cockiest bunch around because they won ONE World Series. Win a few more and become a real dynasty, then we'll start talking.

fuckwad.

I didn't say a word about payroll
the pic points out that the yanks haven't won since 2000, and that a lower-payroll team beat them every time since then

take that george, you can bring 10 more a-rods you still won't win

word
