Iran: "Death to America."
Iran approves uranium enrichment
http://edition.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/e...lear/index.html
TEHRAN, Iran (CNN) -- Iran's parliament Sunday unanimously passed a resolution allowing the government to continue its uranium enrichment activities, despite recent efforts by European negotiators to curb the program.
After the vote was passed, several lawmakers stood up and shouted: "Death to America."
Iran has previously stated its nuclear program is intended for peaceful civilian uses. The Iranians have said they have every right to resume enriching uranium.
Enriched uranium can be a fuel for both nuclear energy and atomic weapons.
European negotiators have recently engaged in talks with Iranian representatives in an attempt to ease fears in the United States and Europe that Iran is seeking to develop nuclear weapons.
Iran recently rejected proposals from European negotiators to indefinitely suspend its program in exchange for incentives.
During the talks in Vienna -- the headquarters of the United Nations' nuclear watchdog International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) -- negotiators for Britain, Germany and France offered to supply nuclear fuel for Iran's planned power plants, and to enhance trade and political relations.
The proposals were a last ditch effort before the next meeting of the Board of Governors of the IAEA scheduled for November 25.
Iran's Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported the Iranian delegates told the Europeans that "restricting Iran's access to nuclear technology marks a red line for the country and it would not be acceptable at all."
What's good for the US, Israel, France, China, North Korea, and Russia isn't good for Iran? I say eliminate all.
This is extremely simplistic but do what Israel did to Iraq, bomb the facilities. That seemed to work...or slow down the process anyway.
Iran will have them, its time the world gets used to that state of affairs.
EDIT
Its very likely that the US iraq war actually is causing the iranian program to speed up as a viable defense against a possible theat from israel or the US.

There is a big difference in a peaceful country having nuclear weapons and a rogue nation having them. A rogue nation will use them for blackmail, will use them as a deterrent to do anything they wish, as a way of seeking more power than they deserve, and as a way to spread the technology to terrorists.

How many of these wars have we used nuclear technology? How many of these wars have we made threats of nuclear war? How many of these wars have we proliferated nuclear technology? How many of these wars have we use nuclear technology for blackmail or defense purposes?
Don't forget the rest of the countries who have nuclear weapons, the United States isn't the only one. I figured someone would bring the US up however.

let's not forget taht india has them too. the only sensible solution is not proliferation, but disarment, and the US adminstration hasn't done anything or very little on that issue.

Besides that point, why does Iran need nuclear weapons? The U.S. needed them and still needs them as a deterrent against powers such as Russia, China and North Korea. What immediate military threat does Iran have? And I can say the U.S. isn't particularly interested in invading Iran anyway (Iraq has more oil ). |

| Originally posted by St_Andrew As i pretty much said in the other post, yes, i agree, the world is less safe with one more country with nuclear weapons. But as an Iranian i would definitely think i would have as much right to have nuclear weapons esp since you just invaded the country next to it. as a western european tho, i certainly feel a lot safer that the US have nuclear weapons than iran..., since the US have pretty much the same way of thinking as me.. trying to see it out of their perspective tho, i think they have the same right as you to have it, IE if they are going to destroy their weapons, i think the US should do it too. |
Death to America? that is most definitely a threat
especially on the passing of a nuclear enrichment program
wtf are they thinking?
