Ben Roethlisberger

I am a huge Steelers fan, who thinks this kid will be the next nfl legend?

Posted by Omegasox on Nov-01-2004 19:35:

He's had a great first half of his FIRST season, but uh, I think it's a little premature to think he'll be a legend.

Posted by verndogs on Nov-01-2004 20:31:

they'll think of him as a legend next week when they beat the eagles

Posted by Shamez214 on Nov-01-2004 21:46:

Yeah... legend is pushing it a little too far, I think. There are quite a few elite quarterbacks in the NFL that people don't consider legends yet...

Posted by denys envy on Nov-02-2004 05:52:

I think he's doing quite well because of what's around him.

a stifling defense
good line
good running back

when you have those things and you're a decent quaterback then you'll perform really well no doubt about it.

but stick this kid on the Bears or better yet the Dolphins and then let's see what he does.

Posted by tribu on Nov-02-2004 15:08:

Not to mention the fact that the Browns had a field day with him last time and the next time we meet, well be looking for 2 more interceptions...possibly a third.

Posted by itsTrueSonic on Nov-13-2004 17:11:

ok .. just beat the patriots and eagles...

the steelers keep this up, buy a ticket to the super bowl ..

this guy is like tom brady . doesn't turn the ball over. mistake free. keep this up and have duce and the bus behind him, and they will go a long way.

actually he'll do fine with the Bears, because they have a good running game, and he can complement with that.

the Dolphins would do fine with him too, because defense would give him good field position. although the running game is non-existant, he has too very good receivers to throw to (chambers and mcmichael) and a deep threat (booker)

Posted by DJ.MD on Nov-15-2004 17:46:

I think Ben is good and mistake free. But Legend. Not quite yet, let him do it for 10 straight years like Marino, etc.

And I'm a huge Steelers fan too. SO I'm still very happy about it.

Hines Ward and Plax are imo 2 of the most underrated WR's in the league,

however Ben def. shows poise in the pocket that makes you think he's a several year veteran, not a rookie, and he has proved that he can come through in clutch situations.

I think he will be very, very, very good.

Posted by verndogs on Dec-10-2004 00:57:

even when Ben struggles, like he did a few weeks ago, he's not making any mistakes

Posted by itsTrueSonic on Dec-10-2004 01:37:

when will this guy lose ???
possibly this week against the J-e-t-s ????

but could he be the first player in history to win the Rookie of the Year and MVP ??

although not mvp numbers he is putting up, he is not making mistakes .. something a lot of voters look at .. and he is not losing .. another big plus for mvp voters.

Posted by Lebezniatnikov on Dec-10-2004 03:02:

MVP?? Were you aware there's a team in the NFL that has Peyton Manning on it?

Posted by verndogs on Dec-10-2004 03:05:

Big Ben hasn't lost a game yet. Peyton has lost three even with his record setting performance three this season. That's why I would say Big Ben has the edge over Peyton for MVP this year

Posted by Eddie N MIAMI on Dec-10-2004 03:29:

Im pretty sure theyll give it to Peyton

But i like Ben better
this team before him with Maddox, eh not so good.Ben woke up Burress, earned the respect of an O-Line that doubted him, hasnt lost a game, people say he plays safe but the guy makes nice throws.Shown to perform under pressure.

Posted by itsTrueSonic on Dec-10-2004 05:24:

my top 5 mvp candidates :

ben roethlisberger
peyton manning
donovan mcnabb
drew brees <== look at his numbers, before you comment .. just amazing what he is doing right now.
corey dillon <== the 'real' reason for new england's record right now. if not for him, tom brady wouldn't look as relaxed as right now.

if big ben goes undefeated the rest of the season, then he's my #1 pick... what he has accomplished and had to adjust through the whole season ..

by that logic, the pats wouldn't have won the super bowl last year, right?

Posted by Dmatrox on Dec-10-2004 07:41:

Dillon is pretty good, but Pats have good depth at the WR and okay TE's.

i would also nominate tom brady as an mvp.

the 0-line was really hobbled last year which helped contribute to the Steelers awful run game. Plus, this year they added the elusive Duce who has been a major playmaker---, but other than that I agree w/ you that the team is pretty much the same as it was last year, shows how much the QB position affects the entire team.

If Peyton doesn't win MVP they shouldn't bother to bring the award back, what he's doing this season is simply insane

Agreed. I don't like the Colts at all... but you have to respect that.

My top 5:
1. Peyton.
2. Brees.
3. LaDainian.
4. T. Owens
5. Worthlessberger.

Posted by Lebezniatnikov on Dec-15-2004 03:21:

Worthlessberger stumbled this week. His chance at the MVP is now officially over. I mean, Bettis threw for more TD's this week.

Posted by Dmatrox on Dec-15-2004 05:33:

he throws/plays like a guy thats been in the NFL for 4+ years.

Posted by Spartan on Dec-17-2004 06:47:

who's ya'lls MVP pick for the NFC?

Posted by itsTrueSonic on Dec-20-2004 02:25:

what a game big ben had against the giants.. wow .. when the game was on the line, he stepped up big time .. and he did it without burress .. just hines ward and antwan randel el (which is turning out to be a better receiver now than quarterback .. now if only kordell stewart learned this when he was with the steelers .. hmmmm...)

but yeah .. peyton should get the mvp .. no matter what .. he's just putting up those "video game" stats that you always put up when you play football on the video game system .. when you're averaging 70 points per game, and your offense is like racking up 800 yards a game .. something like that ..

but to me, i still think dillon has the edge over brady as the pats most valuable player .. yea yea brady led them to 2 super bowls, let's all not forget that awful game the pats had when dillon was not there when the pats got raped by the steelers ..
