.....

Man your still trying to figure out what to get ain't ya, well I went to Numark, but your poll isn't specific enough, for Decks I would go Numark for either the TT200, TT500, or TTX, then they have the CDX, there mixers are nothing amazing, but they still alright, but as for Stanton, they do have the STR-100 and 150, which are good, but I think they cost more than the Numarks, but Stanton do make some high quality mixers, as for Gemini, well Gemini is umm, Gemini.....naa they got it right I think with there PT-2100s, the price was cheap and the deck was a good deck, and they have the UMX series which is like the best you can get when you begin out scratching and you need a very cheap but good mixer.

numark they dont have the best top end mixers but they do have very good ones that are cheaper. There decks r some of the best that r around at the moment aswell

Numark tables have bad tonearms
Stanton's warranty service sucks (And I know)
Stanton is expensive if you buy your stuff in the first shop you see. The St100 is a solid deck, I love the steel, it doesn't feel like a toy like gemini plastic products do. Allthough, the Ps626i and the UMX series are pretty good, I'd still prefer a stanton mixer over them. As for numark mixers, in general, they're too expensive for what you get. So, my vote went to stanton.

The Numark TTX1 and CDX are very nice products, I have two TTX1s and the torque is amazing, and the build quality seems very good as well. They're probably not as durable as Technics, but there aren't many products (in general, not just DJ equipment) that can compare to the Technics 1200's durability.

so the PT-2100s were pretty good? are they good now? are they better than numarks tt200's?

Posted by TranceSpeeder on Nov-01-2004 22:30:

i found a great deal on the STR8-100, should i go for it?

You shouldnt have put the they are all somewhat low end, but numark is the best of the three for sure.

it depends on what end of range you are looking at. if you are wanting cheap, but half decent decks go for numark (tt200/500)

Low end? Based on what?

Posted by beats and beeps on Nov-02-2004 16:16:

Based on the quality of parts used, reliability etc. All of the brands shown generally have lower priced equipment. Beleive it or not, to be able to sell equipment at low prices they have to use cheaper parts.

I know you dont like elitest technics freak mr.mystery, although i dont think technics is the best turntable available, the Vestax pdx2300 MKII is my favourite. I'm not trying to bash these brands, most of them are fine for the price you pay, but you cant say that they are high end.

BTW im saying this about the majority of their products. I do realise each brand (stanton, and numark at least) have a few products that are right up there with the big names. Although youll find that the price is getting up there as well.

I know I did...

you got the str8-100? how are they?

Posted by Tiger777 on Nov-02-2004 21:00:

I don't have the STR8, but the ST with an S tonearm. Those are better for your vinyl. I really like the feel of them, solid, they're not made of plastic. The torque is okay (Techs have less). The pitch buttons are very usefull and the key correcton... ya, well, I hardly use it. The only problem is that you can't see the exact % of pitch. That's not a too big problem for me.

I paid 356 for mine (techs cost 600 here) and I'd take him again if they offered me one for that price.

I use to own a str8-100 too. I personally didn't like the plastic base, and the tonearm always seemed wobbly in comparison to my m3d. Another thing, the pitch fader died on mine after a couple of years and it was almost impossiable to find a replacement. It was a ok deck, but i wouldn't praise it. If i had a chance to buy that or a tt-500, i would go for a numark tt-500 hands down.
